As Rory's anger boiled over, Alexander's expression crumbled. He took a step forward, his hands open in a pleading gesture. "Rory, please listen. I know I've lied to you, but it was all to protect you. I swear it."
Rory's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with the implications. Protect her from what? From whom? The questions swirled in her head like a vortex, pulling her under. She felt Maya's steady presence beside her, a reminder that she wasn't alone in this tangled web.
"I don't know what to believe anymore," Rory said, her voice barely above a whisper. Alexander's face contorted in anguish, but Rory pressed on. "You've lied to me, used me. How can I trust you now?" The words spilled out, a mixture of pain and frustration.
Alexander's eyes dropped, his shoulders sagging under the weight of Rory's accusations. "I know I've failed you," he said, his voice cracking. "But I'm trying to make it right. Rachel's revelation... it's true. My past is fabricated. I'm not who I thought I was." He paused, taking a deep breath. "But my feelings for you, Rory... those are real."
Rory's heart wrenched, torn between her desire to believe Alexander and her need to protect herself. Maya's skeptical gaze didn't help; it only fueled Rory's doubts. Was Alexander genuinely trying to make amends, or was this another clever manipulation?
Just as Rory was about to respond, Samantha burst into the warehouse, her eyes sparkling with urgency. "Guys, we have a problem. Jai's moving faster than we thought. He's scheduled a meeting with key investors in 48 hours." Rory's focus snapped back to the task at hand. Bringing down Jai.
"We need to get to those investors," Maya said, her mind already racing with strategies.
"But how?" Rory asked, her thoughts tangled in the complexities.
Samantha grinned mischievously. "Leave that to me. I've got a plan."
As they brainstormed, Alexander's presence lingered, a constant reminder of Rory's fractured trust. Could she truly rely on him, or would his loyalty shatter like glass?
