"Who is this witness?" Rory demanded, her voice shaking.
James hesitated, his eyes darting between Elijah and Rory.
"Someone who claims to have information about Jai's past," James said finally.
Rory's thoughts raced. Who could this witness be?
Elijah's expression turned skeptical. "What makes this witness credible?"
James pulled out a folder. "This witness has provided documentation and testimony that corroborates Rory's story."
Rory's hope surged. Maybe this witness was the key to bringing Jai down.
"But there's more," James added, his voice cautious.
Rory's heart sank. What now?
"This witness also claims...," James paused, "that Rory's family is involved in Jai's schemes."
Rory's world crashed around her. "What? That's impossible!"
Elijah's face darkened. "We need to investigate these claims."
James nodded. "I agree. We can't ignore this witness's testimony."

"It's Detective Patel," Elijah said, answering the call.

"We have a problem," Elijah said, ending the call. "Jai's lawyers have filed another motion."
Rory's eyes widened. "What now?"
Elijah's face hardened. "They're trying to discredit the witness."
Rory's determination flared. "We won't let them."
