Chapter 33

FEBRUARY one came and it marked as a special day to Phuwin. He planned everything about this day. He conspiracy with his friends to help him with his plan. They've been busy the whole day and when the sun began to set, casting a warm golden color over the backyard, Phuwin put the finishing touches on his surprise birthday party for Pond. He had been planning this moment for weeks, wanting to create a special memory to celebrate not only Pond's birthday but also to show him how he loves the man.

This will be his come back for the surprised birthday that Pond made for him last year.

The backyard was adorned with colorful lights strung between the trees, creating a cozy atmosphere. A barbecue grill sizzled with marinated meats, filling the air with mouthwatering aromas. Phuwin had set up a table laden with Pond's favorite snacks and a cooler filled with whiskey awaited to be cracked open.

"Everything looks perfect!" Metawin said, stepping outside to admire the setup.

Yes, he's here.

The handsome young CEO found out about the birthday surprise and he offered his help. Also Ohm and Mick shared a contribution for this event. They come in the afternoon to help the preparation, while Pond is ordered by Metawin to do something at the company.

"Thanks Phi! I just want this to be special for him" Phuwin replied with a wide smile before checking the time.

"He should be here any moment"

Once everything was in place, Phuwin felt a mix of excitement and nerves. He couldn't wait to see Pond's reaction. Just then, he heard the familiar sound of Pond's car pulling up. His heart raced as he quickly dimmed the lights and hid behind a tree, signaling the others to do the same.

As Pond stepped out of the car, he stretched and yawned, unaware of the surprise that awaited him. "What a long day" he muttered to himself, making his way toward the house.

"Now" Phuwin whispered urgently to them.

They all jumped out from their hiding spots, shouting

"SURPRISE!"

Pond's eyes widened in shock for a few seconds and a wide grin spread across his face as he took in the scene. He really didn't like surprises for himself maybe because he didn't experience it since his father died that's why seeing his brothers, friends, his boyfriend and especially his mother stood there shouting and greeting him a happy birthday is not a scene that he dreamed before. It just came.

"I don't know how to react, it--it's amazing" he said stuttering and awkwardly smiled at them

"Thank you guys, I really appreciate it" he added, his heart swelling with happiness.

"Happy Birthday son, Mom is so proud of you always" Sammy said, stepping forward to pull him into a tight embrace, then his brothers and friends also hugged him. Lastly, his boyfriend embraced him with a full kiss on his lips that earned a vomiting sound from their friends.

Pond laughed "Don't kill the joy guys, let me kiss my baby it's my birthday after all"

"We didn't work our asses for your birthday surprise just to be a third wheel fuckers" First shouted that made everyone laugh

"It's not my fucking fault that you're single First, you should've start fishing since the ocean is wide" Pond replied

They became noisy with the teasing and jokes they had to First. While his friends are bickering and goofing with each other. Phuwin stood up in his seat, holding a bottle of whiskey.

"And to toast the occasion, I got Pond's favorite poison" Phu said that shattered the noises

"Whiskey? You know me too well" Pond replied, winking at his boyfriend.

"For Pond's good health and good life" Phuwin raised raising his glass at the air

"For Pond's success and future" Ohm followed

"Cheers for Ponds taxes and government fee that will burn his wallet" Mark added

"For Pond's life insurance, company insurance, government insurance and funeral insurance" Gemini inserted with a wide grin on his lips

Phuwin cut the wishes and proceeded to cheer the glasses before the topic went elsewhere.

As the evening went on, they gathered around the barbecue, sharing stories and laughter. Phuwin expertly flipped burgers and grilled skewers while Pond helped arrange the sides.

After the meal they gathered around the table for the birthday cake----an elaborate chocolate creation topped with candles.

"Make a wish" Sammy urged, nudging Pond forward. The man awkwardly scratches his nape because he's not used to this, like blowing the candles and making wishes. He was the kind of boy that dusk till dawn at the bar during his birthday.

Looking at his mother's smile, she looked happy and he didn't want to ruin it. Pond closed his eyes, taking a deep breath before blowing out the candles. As everyone cheered, he felt a wave of gratitude wash over him.

"Thank you, guys. This means so much to me" he said, his voice sincere.

"Just wait until you taste the cake, I'm the one who ordered it" Winny boast

"BUT THAT'S OUR MONEY" others replies

Shaking his head Pond sliced into it and tasted. He took seconds to analyze the taste of the cake while his friends are waiting for his comment like a meerkat

"Ahmm" he nodded

Everyone anticipated for his reaction. Winny who ordered the cake waited for Pond's words with an open mouth. After a minute of waiting, their excitement died because of Pond's answer.

"It's almost as sweet as my Phuwin" everyone left the table except for Mae, Sammy and his brothers.

Winny, Mark, Perth and First booed him while Joong, Dunk, Gemini and Fourth are laughing their asses off.

They spent the night enjoying each other's company. There is teasing and bickering, he and his friends are the only ones left at the table because the others went to sleep already. As the stars twinkled overhead, Pond looked around at his friends and felt a deep sense of belonging.

"This is way better than the birthdays I had before" Pond said in a low voice, hiding his face in the crook of Phuwin's neck

His heart felt the overwhelming contentment as he inhaled his boyfriend's scent. "Thank you for this beau, I'm so happy tonight. I was ready to accept that maybe you didn't know or remember my birthday" he confessed

Phuwin chuckled and kissed him in the cheeks. "Love, in this relationship both of us should make it balanced. You give and I'll give too. You sacrifice something and I'll do the same. In that way we can weigh the same and grow the same length, so we can be fit to each other"
