CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: TWISTED LOYALTIES

Jaeyun sat on the cold floor of his room, staring blankly at the wall. His lips still stung from Heeseung’s forceful kiss, and his wrist throbbed where Heeseung had grabbed him. The events from the park played over and over in his mind—Sunghoon’s bloody face, Heeseung’s madness, and that possessive kiss that made Jaeyun’s stomach churn with dread.

Heeseung had always been controlling, but this… this was something else entirely. The violence, the obsession—it was suffocating, and Jaeyun didn’t know how much more he could take.

A soft knock interrupted his thoughts, and the door creaked open to reveal Sunoo, Heeseung’s ever-loyal bodyguard. Sunoo’s eyes flickered with something like concern as he stepped into the room, closing the door behind him.

“Heeseung sent me,” Sunoo said quietly, his voice lacking the usual edge it had. “He wanted me to check on you.”

Jaeyun swallowed hard, his throat dry. “I’m fine.”

Sunoo didn’t seem convinced. He crossed the room and crouched in front of Jaeyun, his eyes scanning the bruise forming on Jaeyun’s wrist. “Doesn’t look like it,” he muttered under his breath.

Jaeyun pulled his hand back, hiding it behind him. “Why do you care?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. “You’re loyal to Heeseung.”

Sunoo’s jaw tightened. “I am. But that doesn’t mean I agree with everything he does.”

Jaeyun blinked in surprise, staring at Sunoo as if seeing him for the first time. There was something about Sunoo’s demeanor, something that made Jaeyun wonder if maybe, just maybe, Sunoo wasn’t as cold as he appeared.

“He’s dangerous, Jaeyun,” Sunoo said softly. “You’ve seen it now. He’ll do whatever it takes to keep you by his side.”

“I know,” Jaeyun whispered, his voice trembling. “But I don’t have a choice. He won’t let me go.”

Sunoo’s expression darkened. “You always have a choice,” he said firmly. “You just need to be smart about it.”

Before Jaeyun could ask what he meant, the door burst open, and Heeseung stormed in, his eyes wild with fury. Sunoo immediately stood up, stepping back to give Heeseung space, though his gaze lingered on Jaeyun for a brief moment.

“What the hell is going on in here?” Heeseung’s voice was sharp, filled with suspicion.

“Nothing,” Jaeyun answered quickly, standing up from the floor. He didn’t want to give Heeseung any reason to be angry—he’d already seen enough of Heeseung’s wrath for one day.

Heeseung’s eyes narrowed as he looked between Jaeyun and Sunoo, his fists clenching at his sides. “Sunoo, leave us.”

Without a word, Sunoo bowed his head and exited the room, closing the door behind him. The moment they were alone, Heeseung’s entire demeanor shifted. His eyes softened as he approached Jaeyun, but there was still a dangerous edge to his movements.

“You shouldn’t have gone out with him,” Heeseung said, his voice low but laced with warning. “Sunghoon is trying to take you away from me. Can’t you see that?”

Jaeyun’s heart raced in his chest, but he forced himself to stay calm. “He’s just trying to be my friend.”

“Friends don’t kiss each other,” Heeseung snapped, his temper flaring. “He kissed you, Jaeyun. He crossed the line.”

Jaeyun flinched at the mention of the kiss. He hadn’t meant for it to happen—it had just… happened. But Heeseung saw it as betrayal, and in his twisted mind, that was enough reason to lash out.

“I didn’t ask for it,” Jaeyun said softly, trying to defend himself. “I didn’t—”

Heeseung stepped closer, cupping Jaeyun’s face in his hands. His touch was gentle, but Jaeyun could feel the tension in his fingers, the barely contained anger simmering beneath the surface.

“You’re mine, Jaeyun,” Heeseung whispered, his voice filled with dark intensity. “I don’t care what Sunghoon says or does. You belong to me.”

Jaeyun’s breath hitched as Heeseung’s thumb brushed over his lower lip, a possessive gesture that made Jaeyun’s skin crawl. This wasn’t love—it was obsession, pure and simple.

“Heeseung, please…” Jaeyun began, but he didn’t know what he was pleading for. Freedom? Understanding? Mercy? He wasn’t even sure anymore.

Before Jaeyun could say anything else, Heeseung pulled him into another kiss. This one wasn’t as forceful as the first, but it was still possessive, still a claim. Jaeyun closed his eyes, trying to ignore the pit of dread forming in his stomach. He knew he couldn’t fight back—Heeseung was too powerful, too dangerous.

When Heeseung finally pulled away, his eyes were filled with something dark, something Jaeyun couldn’t fully understand. “You’re not going anywhere,” Heeseung whispered. “Not with Sunghoon, not with anyone. You’re mine.”

Jaeyun nodded weakly, knowing that resistance was futile. Heeseung would never let him go.

Meanwhile, outside the room, Sunoo stood with his back against the wall, his arms crossed. He’d heard everything—Heeseung’s possessive words, Jaeyun’s quiet pleas. And as much as Sunoo tried to stay loyal to Heeseung, something about this situation didn’t sit right with him.

He glanced down the hallway, where Sunghoon was being tended to by a few of Heeseung’s men. Sunoo’s loyalty had always been unwavering, but seeing Jaeyun so broken… it stirred something in him.

He couldn’t help but wonder how long this twisted game of obsession and control could go on before everything shattered beyond repair.

And when it did, Sunoo knew he’d have to make a choice.
