CHAPTER EIGHTEEN: SECRETS & OBSESSIONS

The night was silent as Sunoo moved swiftly through the dimly lit streets, his mission clear in his mind. Heeseung had tasked him with infiltrating Sunghoon’s secret office, gathering whatever incriminating information he could find. Sunoo had done plenty of dangerous work before, but something about this job had his instincts on high alert. Sunghoon wasn’t just another enemy. He was Heeseung’s cousin, and their rivalry was deeply personal.

Heeseung’s last words echoed in his mind as he approached the building.

“Find out what Sunghoon is planning. He’s hiding something, and I want to know exactly what.”

Sunoo knew there would be consequences if he failed. Heeseung’s obsession with control, especially where Jaeyun was concerned, had been growing more volatile by the day. He had to succeed—there was no other option.

Slipping into the shadows, Sunoo bypassed the building’s security system with ease, making his way toward Sunghoon’s private office. The corridors were dark, the air thick with tension. Every step he took felt like it echoed through the walls, but he moved quickly, his heart racing.

Reaching the office door, Sunoo expertly picked the lock and stepped inside. The room was sleek and modern, reflecting Sunghoon’s refined tastes. Moonlight filtered through the tall windows, casting long shadows across the floor. Sunoo wasted no time, moving to the desk and rummaging through the drawers, searching for anything that might reveal Sunghoon’s plans.

But as he sifted through papers and files, the unmistakable sound of footsteps echoed down the hall. Sunoo froze, his pulse quickening. He had to get out—now.

Before he could make his escape, the door swung open, and there stood Sunghoon, his eyes narrowing as they locked onto Sunoo.

“Well, well,” Sunghoon said with a low, mocking chuckle. “What do we have here?”

Sunoo’s hand instinctively went to his gun, but Sunghoon was faster. In an instant, Sunoo found himself slammed against the wall, his weapon knocked from his grasp. Sunghoon’s grip was like iron, his eyes glinting with dangerous amusement.

“You really thought you could sneak into my office and get away with it?” Sunghoon sneered, his voice dripping with condescension.

Sunoo struggled, trying to break free, but Sunghoon’s hold was too strong. “Let me go,” he demanded, glaring at his captor.

Sunghoon’s lips curled into a smirk. “Not a chance,” he said, his tone cold. “You’re going to tell me exactly what you were looking for, or this is going to get a lot worse for you.”

Sunoo stayed silent, refusing to give Sunghoon the satisfaction of an answer. Heeseung had sent him to gather information, and he wasn’t about to betray that mission, no matter what.

Sunghoon’s patience wore thin. With a harsh shove, he dragged Sunoo out of the office, hauling him down a series of twisting hallways. Sunoo’s heart raced as they descended into the building’s basement, where the notorious torture room was located. He had heard stories about Sunghoon’s methods, but he never thought he’d find himself on the receiving end.

The door to the basement creaked open, revealing a dark room filled with ominous-looking tools and chains. Sunghoon roughly shoved Sunoo into the center of the room, binding him to a chair with heavy chains.

“Now,” Sunghoon said as he paced around the room, his voice eerily calm, “why don’t you tell me what Heeseung is after?”

Sunoo’s jaw clenched, his gaze defiant. He wouldn’t break.

Sunghoon let out a frustrated sigh, grabbing a metal rod from the wall. He approached Sunoo slowly, the rod tapping lightly against his hand. “You’re loyal,” he admitted, his voice almost admiring. “But even the most loyal dogs can be broken.”

With that, Sunghoon struck, the rod slamming into the chair just inches from Sunoo’s face. Sunoo didn’t flinch, his expression hard and unyielding.

“Still nothing?” Sunghoon asked, his eyes narrowing. “Impressive.”

Sunoo’s mind raced. He wasn’t afraid of pain, but he wasn’t naive either. Sunghoon was playing a dangerous game, and it was clear he had no intention of letting Sunoo leave this room without answers.

But then, something shifted in Sunghoon’s gaze. His smirk softened into something more curious, almost intrigued. He reached out, running a hand along Sunoo’s cheek, his touch light yet unsettling.

“You know,” Sunghoon said softly, his eyes locking onto Sunoo’s, “I’ve always been fascinated by you. There’s something about the way you carry yourself, the way you refuse to break… It’s almost admirable.”

Sunoo recoiled slightly, his skin crawling under Sunghoon’s touch. “I’m not interested in your twisted games,” he spat.

Sunghoon’s smirk deepened. “Oh, but you will be. In time.”

Sunoo’s pulse quickened, but he kept his face impassive. Sunghoon’s obsession with control was dangerous, and now it seemed that obsession was extending to him.

“You think Heeseung cares about you?” Sunghoon asked, his tone almost pitying. “He doesn’t. He uses people, just like he’s using you. But me… I could offer you something more. A real partnership.”

Sunoo remained silent, his resolve unshaken.

Sunghoon’s amusement faded, replaced by frustration. “Fine,” he growled, stepping back. “We’ll see how long you can hold out.”

With that, Sunghoon turned, leaving Sunoo alone in the darkness, chained and bound. As Sunoo sat there, his mind racing, he realized just how deep Sunghoon’s obsession went. This wasn’t just about information. Sunghoon wanted more from him—something far more dangerous.

And Sunoo wasn’t sure how much longer he could resist.
