It had been months since that conversation in Professor Hatake's classroom, but for Sakura, it felt like only yesterday. The tension between them hadn't disappeared-if anything, it had grown stronger, more consuming. She could still feel the way he had looked at her, the weight of his words hanging in the air between them.

But after that day, things had changed. Professor Hatake had kept his distance. No more lingering gazes or unspoken challenges. He had become cold, almost indifferent, and it drove Sakura crazy.

Not because she didn't understand why he was doing it. She did. It was to protect both of them, to keep things professional, as they should be. But the shift in his behavior made her feel like she was going insane, like she was chasing something just out of reach. He had made it clear that nothing could happen between them, yet his words that day-"This doesn't end here"-haunted her.

And it hadn't ended. Not really.

Even if they weren't acting on it, the pull was always there. She felt it every time she walked into his classroom, every time his eyes accidentally brushed over hers before he quickly looked away. She was careful, trying not to make it obvious how much he still affected her, but sometimes it was hard. Impossible, even.

She thought about him all the time. At night, alone in her room, she would replay every moment they had shared, letting her mind wander to places it shouldn't. Places that made her body heat up in ways that left her restless and wanting. It was torture, this unfulfilled desire, the constant need for something she knew she could never have.

Sakura wasn't naive. She knew what she was feeling was dangerous. But there were moments when she wanted to push him, just to see how far he could go before he snapped. She wondered what it would be like if he finally gave in. How it would feel to have all that tension explode between them.

She sighed, leaning her head against her locker as students bustled around her. Senior year had become a blur of routine: classes, exams, and endless thoughts of Kakashi Hatake. Ino, oblivious to the storm brewing inside her friend, continued to crush on different boys, completely unaware of the real object of Sakura's obsession.

"You coming to lunch?" Ino's voice broke through her thoughts, and Sakura blinked, realizing she had been lost in her head again.

"Yeah, sorry," Sakura mumbled, closing her locker and grabbing her bag.

As they walked toward the cafeteria, Ino rambled on about some guy from her math class, but Sakura could barely pay attention. Her mind was already jumping ahead, thinking about the next class on her schedule-creative writing.

Despite everything, it had become her favorite class. Not because of the subject itself, but because of him. Every day she sat in the same seat, and every day she waited for the moment their eyes would meet, even if it was only for a fleeting second. It was intoxicating, maddening.

She wondered how much longer she could keep this up without losing her mind.

As they reached the cafeteria, Sakura's phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled it out, expecting a text from her mother or maybe an update on some school event, but her heart stopped when she saw the name.

Professor Hatake.

Her breath hitched, and her stomach flipped as she stared at the screen. Why was he texting her? They never communicated outside of class. Not once.

"Meet me after school in the library. There's something we need to discuss."

Her heart raced. What could he possibly want to talk about? The message was vague, but her mind immediately went to the worst-or best-possible scenario. Was this about them? About what had been left unsaid for months?

She quickly typed out a response.

"Okay."

The rest of the day was a blur. Sakura couldn't focus on anything, not the lessons, not her friends, not even the clock ticking slowly toward the final bell. All she could think about was what would happen when they were alone. Would this be another warning? A reminder to stop whatever it was she was feeling? Or would it be something else entirely?

When the final bell rang, her body moved on autopilot. She grabbed her things and headed straight for the library, her heart pounding in her chest as she approached the doors. She paused for a moment, taking a deep breath before stepping inside.

The library was quiet, almost eerily so. The usual crowd of students had already left for the day, and the only sound was the soft hum of the air conditioning. Sakura scanned the room, her eyes landing on a figure near the back, sitting at one of the large study tables.

Professor Hatake.

He looked up as she approached, his expression unreadable as he watched her. She swallowed hard, feeling the tension in the air thickening with every step she took. She stopped in front of him, her hands gripping the strap of her bag tightly.

"You wanted to see me?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Kakashi nodded, motioning for her to sit. She did, her nerves jangling as she waited for him to speak. His usual calm and composed demeanor was in place, but there was something different in his eyes. Something that made her stomach twist in anticipation.

"I wanted to check in with you," he began, his voice low and controlled. "You've been... distracted in class lately."

Sakura blinked, caught off guard. That's what this was about?

"I've noticed you're not as focused as you used to be," he continued, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Your grades are still fine, but your attention seems... elsewhere."

Her throat tightened, and she fought the urge to squirm under his gaze. Was this really just about her academic performance? Or was there something else going on beneath the surface?

"I'm fine," she said quickly, trying to keep her voice steady. "I'm just... tired. Senior year, you know?"

Kakashi's eyes flickered, like he didn't quite believe her. He leaned back in his chair, folding his arms across his chest. "Is that all it is?"

Sakura's heart raced as she met his gaze. She knew what he was doing-pushing her, testing her. There was more to this conversation than grades and focus, and they both knew it.

"I-" she hesitated, her mind racing. Should she tell him the truth? Admit that the reason she was distracted was because of him? That every time she sat in his class, all she could think about was the tension between them, the unspoken desire that lingered in the air like a forbidden secret?

But no. She couldn't do that. Not here. Not now.

"I'm just tired," she repeated, her voice firmer this time. "I'll be fine."

Kakashi studied her for a long moment, his gaze sharp and piercing. Then, slowly, he nodded. "Alright."

But something in his tone told her that he wasn't entirely convinced. The tension between them was still there, simmering just below the surface, waiting for the slightest spark to ignite it.

Sakura stood up, grabbing her bag. "If that's all...?"

Kakashi's eyes flickered with something she couldn't quite read as he nodded again. "That's all. For now."

She turned to leave, her heart pounding in her chest, but before she could take more than a few steps, his voice stopped her.

"Sakura."

She froze, her breath catching in her throat. She didn't turn around, but she could feel his gaze burning into her back.

"I told you before... this doesn't end here."

Her pulse raced as the weight of his words settled over her. She knew what he meant-knew that no matter how hard they tried to deny it, the pull between them wasn't going away. It was still there, stronger than ever.

And she wasn't sure how much longer either of them could hold back.
