A week had passed since Sakura's late-night rendezvous at Kakashi's house, and their relationship had settled into a dangerous, intoxicating routine. They were careful-more than careful-but every meeting felt like an unspoken risk, heightening the thrill for both of them. Outside of school, they texted constantly, their messages growing bolder, more intimate. Kakashi maintained his distance at school, keeping his demeanor professional, but it only made their secret encounters all the more electrifying.

Sakura hadn't been able to stop thinking about him. Every moment spent with Kakashi felt like she was on the edge of something both terrifying and exhilarating. But now, her birthday was approaching-something she hadn't even thought to mention to him until the day finally arrived.

That night, she found herself at Kakashi's house once more. The dim lighting in his living room, the familiar scent of his place, and the warmth of his presence all made her feel like this was exactly where she was meant to be. Kakashi had greeted her with a slow kiss as soon as she arrived, his hands brushing the small of her back as he pulled her close.

They sat together on the couch, her legs curled up beneath her as he poured them each a glass of wine. Sakura's heart raced in anticipation of the evening, her thoughts lingering on how she would spend her birthday with him. She hadn't told anyone else-it was too dangerous, too risky to involve her friends, especially with Ino's suspicions hanging over her. But here, with Kakashi, she felt safe.

She took a sip of the wine, smiling at him as she leaned into his shoulder. "You know what today is?"

Kakashi glanced down at her, his expression unreadable as he took a slow sip from his glass. "What is it?" he asked, his tone soft but curious.

Sakura grinned, a little playful spark lighting up her eyes. "It's my birthday."

Kakashi's hand froze halfway to his glass. His expression shifted-subtle, but enough that Sakura noticed. He blinked, turning fully toward her now, his brows furrowing slightly. "Your birthday?"

Sakura nodded, laughing softly at the surprise on his face. "Yeah. I'm 17 today."

The room fell into a thick silence.

Kakashi's grip tightened around his glass, his knuckles turning white as his mind raced. 17. She had only just turned 17. His stomach churned violently, guilt flooding his chest as he stared at her, his composure slipping. She noticed the sudden change in him, her smile faltering.

"Kakashi?" she asked, her voice hesitant, worried now. "What's wrong?"

He set his glass down with a loud thud, standing up abruptly as he ran a hand through his silver hair. He began pacing in front of her, every step heavy with tension. Sakura's heart dropped, confusion flooding her as she watched him unravel before her eyes.

"17?" he muttered, more to himself than to her. "You're 17... now?"

Sakura stood up, reaching out to him. "Kakashi, I don't understand. Why are you freaking out?"

Kakashi's eyes snapped to hers, and she saw it then-the panic, the horror that had been building inside him since the moment she'd said those words. "Sakura, I thought-I assumed you were older," he rasped, his voice thick with disbelief. "I thought you were already 18."

Sakura's heart sank as realization hit her. She had never explicitly told him her age, and he had assumed. The room suddenly felt colder, the warmth between them dissipating as Kakashi continued pacing, running his hands through his hair in frustration.

"This changes everything," he muttered under his breath, his face twisted in turmoil. "I-Sakura, do you even understand what we've done? What I've done?"
