Reyn Hartley - Bow (Slowed)
I was a proud cousin at this moment. So proud. Maybe too proud.
"You little rascal! What did you do?" I laughed, tickling my baby cousin. His mischievous giggles echoed through the room, and I couldn't help but laugh along with him. Meanwhile, Mateo, Romeo, and Ezra were in full-blown panic mode, desperately trying to extinguish the kitchen fire this little creature in my arms had caused—all because they refused to give him cookies.
My little cookie monster.
That creature is hardcore.
Honestly, why Haley thought it was a good idea for those three brain cells to babysit their baby brother—who was undeniably smarter than all of them combined—I would never know.
Dommy was a Morelli through and through. The little troublemaker hugged me sideways, snugly against my right arm as I supported his tiny baby bum. I blew a raspberry on his neck, and his laughter doubled, his two-colored eyes sparkling with glee.
Haley had tasked us with making something sweet for Roman, who was finally being discharged this afternoon. Translation: Roman wouldn't stay in his hospital room any longer without risking homicide. It had been eight days since he woke up, and I was still recovering from the trauma of discussing sex with him until he quite literally blacked out.
Sofia wasn't pregnant, much to everyone's relief, but judging by how attentive she was to Roman in the hospital, it was only a matter of time before that changed. He didn't remember much of the conversation we had that night—just vague flashes of seeing my face—but honestly, I was happy to never speak of it again.
"Let's go find Peach, buddy," I said to Dommy.
"Patty!" he squealed excitedly. He loved that bat. And while that glorified rotisserie chicken barely tolerated him, their dynamic was comedy gold. Dommy would fetch the balls, and Peach would promptly hide them. Babies were so easily entertained, and Dommy was no exception.
Leaving the triplets in their fiery chaos, I strolled into the foyer. Not my problem, I thought. They were grown men—or at least biologically adult. They could figure out how to put out a fire, right?
Doubtful.
I paused mid-step, reevaluating my life choices. Most importantly, I questioned my biological connection to those three.
"What's burning?" Levias asked, descending the stairs.
"Mateo's brain," I quipped, passing Dommy to him. "Here, take this troublemaker for a sec."
Before he could protest, I grabbed the fire extinguisher from behind the staircase. "Be right back."
Marching back into the chaos, I unleashed the extinguisher with zero hesitation, coating everything—and everyone—in white foam.
