Just as the sun rises each day, painting the sky with hues of hope, so too does love rise anew, bring warmth to our hears and light to our souls. 🌄✨A Few Years Later
Yash's POVI stood in front of the large building, the sign proudly reading Cedar Healthcare, the biggest super-speciality hospital in the city. No, I'm not sick. No broken bones. Why am I here?
Well, my girl works here, y'all.
Aakriti had she's completed her MD in Pediatrics and now, she's doing her DM in Cardiology. she's the most dedicated and hardworking person I've ever known. And it shows... her hard work has paid off in spades.
As for me? Well, I'm still the chill college guy at heart, only now I wear fancier wrist watches. I'm still at Microsoft, but I've moved up to a mid-level software engineer. I'm currently aiming for senior-level, but for now, my daily routine is simple: code, coffee, code, and repeat. It's a thrilling life, really.
Anyway, back to why I'm here at 4:32 AM. Yeah, A.M. But it doesn't feel like it is, hospital's buzzing, nurses and ward boys are hustling, patients are waiting or dozing off in chairs. I make my way toward the front desk, where the ever-watchful receptionist spots me.
"You again?" she says, raising an eyebrow.
Mrs. Verma, mid-50s, always sharp, always aware. She's kind of like the unofficial gatekeeper of this place and at this point, she knows me too well.
"Hello, Miss Receptionist," I say, leaning casually on her counter. "How's life treating you?"
"Better than you, I assume," she chuckles. "What's your excuse for showing up at this ridiculous hour?"
I rub my temples dramatically. "I haven't been able to sleep lately."
She clicks her tongue. "I could get you in with the best neurologist we have... Dr. Vikash Sharma is top of his field."
"Marwaoge kya aap" I exclaim. "I mean, his daughter might have something to say about that. Dr. Aakriti Sharma, ever heard of her?"
(Are you trying to get me killed?)
She smirks, shaking her head. "But sir, she's a cardiology resident. If you've got a sleep issue, you might want to stick with neurology."
I place a hand dramatically on my chest. "I think the problem's with my heart."
Mrs. Verma waves me off, laughing.
Aakriti's POV
I was deep into a case study when I heard a knock on my cabin door.
"Come in," I said without looking up.
And in walked my very special patient. "Ugh... Kriti-I mean, Dr. Aakriti-I think my heart stopped working the moment I saw you," Yash said, dramatically placing his hand over his heart as he took the patient's chair in front of my desk.
I rolled my eyes, trying to hide the smile creeping onto my face. "Oh really? Well, I only deal with serious patients, and this doesn't sound serious enough."
He gasped, feigning shock, clutching his chest with even more drama. "But this is serious, Doctor! I'm suffering from a life-threatening case of missing-you-too-much syndrome."
I chuckled, crossing my arms over my chest. "And what exactly do you think would be the best treatment for this?"
He leaned in, eyes twinkling with mischief. "I think a hug and a kiss from the doctor would cure me completely."
