When we fall in love, we find the missing piece of our own heartbeat 💓

Yash's POV

I woke up early in the morning and researched the meanings behind different kinds of flowers. Each flower had a beautiful and unique significance. I didn't know which one she would like, so I jotted down a few options to decide later.

Red Roses - true love, respect, and admiration.
Sunflowers - adoration, loyalty, and longevity.
Tulips - perfect love, deep feelings.
Orchids...
Lilies...

After a long, relaxing bath, slected some good clothes, styled my hair, and sprayed a hint of deodorant. The scent of determination and confidence filled the air. Why I am so nervous? I never felt this way, not even during coding exams or app competitions.

I picked up a comb and knelt in front of the mirror. 'Let's assume this comb-as-flower bouquet,' I tried to calm my nerves. I held the comb in both hands and took a deep breath.

'Kriti, I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?' I practiced, my voice shaking slightly. Yes, this is so simple. I can do this.

As I heard Papa coming in my room, I lost my balance and tumbled to the floor, comb flying out of my hand. "What are you doing on the floor?" Papa asked, trying to stifle a chuckle. "Fell from bed while sleeping?" he teased.

"Yeah... no, I mean..." I stuttered.

Papa's eyes widened in amusement. "Yes or no, Yash?"

I quickly picked up the comb and held it up. "This comb fell, and I was just... uh... picking it up."

Papa's smirk grew. "By falling down yourself?" I chose not to respond, hoping the question would pass. he shook his head. "Anyway, come for breakfast"

As I took a bite of the crispy, golden-brown paratha, I asked, "Maa, what's the first thing you remember Papa gifting you?"

"Why are you asking this?" She questioned.

"Just curious," I said, trying to sound nonchalant.

"He gave me... um... some accessory, maybe," she said after thinking for a while.

"What 'maybe,' Aruna!? I spent all my savings to buy you bangles on our first date," papa exclaimed.

"Oho! I was just teasing you... Oxidized metal bangles from the market behind our college," Maa said, blushing.

Papa's eyes turned dreamy. "You looked so beautiful back then..." Wrong move, I thought, but Papa quickly recovered, "And now, you look even more beautiful!"

I gave him a thumbs up, impressed by his smooth recovery. "Your comeback was better than even Hardik Pandya's!" I said, and Papa chuckled, patting my shoulder. "You should learn this"

That would be almost 25-30 years ago. Are girls these days still into accessories? Should I ask Kanika?

"Kanika, what do you want your future partner to gift you?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.

Kanika, who had been silently eating, looked up with sparkling eyes. "Something special, something unique like... moon."

"The moon?" we exclaimed in unison, surprised. Kanika nodded, taking another bite as if they are selling moons in supermarkets.

"I think an accessory is a better and more sensible idea than the moon," I said nonchalantly, all eyes turned to me.

"Bye, guys, I'm getting late for college," I said, making a quick escape.
