With a bit of a frown, Suneater puts his book down, having just finished it. It was a really good book, in his opinion. It's a shame he finished it. But, then again, he likes all of this author's books. Actually, he owns every book they have ever written. In about half-an-hour, he plans to go to a book-signing. Which will, inevitably, be terrifying. Talking to anyone is pure torture. But, he has gotten better with his anxiety. He can function now. At least, so there's that. So he shouldn't be a total blundering mess. He hopes, anyway. Anxiety can always be so unpredictable.
Swallowing hard, he wills himself to stand up and go to get dressed. It took him forever to convince himself to go at all.
He had to stand in front of his bathroom mirror and give himself a pep-talk aloud, "You're a fan." he'd said, finding himself to be imitating Mirio's voice. "You should just get it signed. She wants people to show up. And, besides, you're a hero in the top ten, right? S- she should be happy to see you, right? Yeah. Go. It'll be fun, Tamaki."
With a deep breath, he gets his clothes together. Pulling out a pastel purple turtleneck sweater and a long, navy blue cardigan. For pants, he grabs a pair of dark-wash jeans and white shoes. Looking in the mirror, he dares to think to himself, 'Not half-bad.'
The drive is a short one, and when he arrives he's surprised to be behind a long, long line. Something inside of him deflates as he holds his favorite book close to his chest. It's one of your less popular books, but he loved it. Something about the main character reminded him of himself. The boy's name was Hiro Shakudai. He was an anxious boy, working to be a hero. The name he chose for himself was Taiyo. Hiro's quirk allowed him to devour light, which gave him the ability to create beams. They came from anywhere on his body, though most commonly from his hands. He was written to have burnt orange hair and the darkest blue eyes that were almost black and Tamaki felt an indescribable connection to this character.
Impatiently, Amajiki waits, shifting from one foot to another. What will he say? He doesn't know anything about you. He doesn't even know what you look like. Suddenly it occurs to him that he should have done some research before this. But all he wanted was a signed book! Is that really so bad?
Finally-finally-he reaches the end. Just one more person in front of him. And the air practically gets knocked out of his lungs. You're breathtaking, His head feels underwater, and he can't hear a thing. But judging from the smile on your face and your body language, you're laughing with the man who stands in front of him.
Then, the man moves, and though Tamaki tries to walk, his legs won't move. It's like he's been rooted to the floor. Thankfully, nobody is waiting behind him, but he still feels guilty. He swallows the lump in his throat, then wills himself forward.
Quickly, he mutters, "H- hi." With trembling hands, he places the book on the table, accidentally slamming it. He winces at the noise.
"Who should I make it out to?" Your voice reminds him of music. He could listen to it all day. "Amajiki? Suneater? Tamaki?" The sound of his first name fills him with dread and something else that he can't place, but all he can manage to do is nod.
You giggle. "I'm sorry to say, but that's not much of an answer."
In response, he whimpers. "Okay."
"I'm just gonna do Tamaki- heh ."
He nods. "It's truly nice to meet you. I'm a fan," He hears the sound of a pen.
"I- I see this is Anxious. One of my less-known works."
"Mhm."
"I'm planning on writing a sequel."
He shoots his head up. "W- what?"
Your lips curled into a smile, "There's that pretty voice of yours."
Blushing, he looks away again with a groan.
"And yes, I'll be writing a sequel. I just haven't announced it yet. It'll be called Confident. Hiro is gonna be Pro, and throughout it, he'll be gaining confidence. Perhaps even... have a romance." "I- I really like Hiro."
"Yeah? He was based off of someone I really admire."
You finish writing, and hand him the book, looking at the ceiling, as if you're reminiscing. A bitter feeling bubbles in his throat, though he can't place it.
"Hiro is the only way I'll ever know him personally, y'know? Dreams rarely come true, and now that I've found fame, I don't have the right to ask for another wish."
"Th- that's not true!" he blurts out, though immediately regrets it. In a panic, he clamps his hand over his mouth.
However, your eyes twinkle. "Please do elaborate."
"W- well," He pries his hand from his own mouth, feeling color and heat creep up his neck and face. "you worked for this. A-all your success-it's not a wish. It's a reward. A well- deserved one, at that. Y- y- you worked so hard, and now- now you've finally- finally got rewarded for it. It wasn't a granted wish. It was- it was you taking what you wanted by force."
"Isn't that sweet? Can you tell me what you like about my books? I love hearing feedback."
"E- everything. From your- your writing-style to your characters."
"Thank you, Suneater. Is this your favorite book by me?"
"Y- yes."
"Well, I'm glad you like it. Have a good day."
You stand up, handing him the closed book. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Suneater."
You bow a little, then make for the exit. With a frown, he watches your back slip through the door and disappear altogether. Sighing, he opens the book to see what you wrote.
Thanks for being a fan, Tamaki. But, more importantly, thanks for being Hiro's blueprint. He's by far my favorite character I've ever written since he's you.
Lots of love, NN
"HE'S BASED OFF OF ME?!?!?!?!"
O.O.0.○.
The moment he got home, Amajiki sat at his computer and emailed you. It's meant strictly for business, but he doesn't care, He needs to speak to you about this madness. Even if it's the last thing he does.
sunnybutterflygarden@heroes.com; Excuse me, this is Suneater. I read what you wrote in my book. What did you mean by me being the blueprint for Hiro? And, furthermore, about Hiro being me?
Almost instantaneously, you reply.

Him: SO NOW YOU WANT TO RESPONE
Y/NL/N *RESPOND
Having realized you won't be replying to any more questions, he turns his phone off and sinks into the chair, depressed. But, then he realizes he has a date which perks him back up. Unfortunately, upon remembering he has to plan, he slumps back down, depressed once again.
O.O.O
"Afternoon." you say, stepping out of the apartment you told him to pick you up from.
Its a quaint little place, though it seems homey enough. You look pretty, in a little sundress and denim jacket. You've got high tops on and your pretty hair is down.
"A-a- afternoon."
"So. what's the plan?"
"I- I was thinking... there's an art museum and- and I've been really wanting to go and I thought this was a good chance to- and I have the tickets and-"
"It's a marvelous plan, Tamaki."
"R- r- right." He gestures to the car. "Sh- shall we go?"
"We shall, but only on the condition of you allowing me to hold your hand on our date."
Through he groans, he nods. In the car, you talk aimlessly, him giving an occasional comment or asking a random question. Every time he does, the smile on your face grows. Even with his low self-esteem, it's clear you're having fun, even just in the car. It fills him with a type of excitement and happiness, and for a moment, he thinks maybe, just maybe, you could possibly like him a little. But could anyone?
At the museum, you grab his hand and start dragging him inside, bouncing while he shows the tickets to the front gate. Then, the moment he can, you're walking with him excitedly, in awe of everything around you. From sculptures to galleries, you both get sucked into the grandeur of it all. Soon, his anxiety washes away, and he starts talking excitedly about different things. Being so vulnerable, he somehow lets you convince him to take pictures together. Between giggles and smiles and churros, he has the time of his life.
And it only continues as you leave, when you propose going out to eat. He quickly agrees, not wanting the day to end. Over noodles, he asks for details about your next book.
After swallowing a clump of noodles that was a little too big, you get a swig of water then say, "I'm a few chapters in. Hiro is a pro and is slowly gaining more confidence. I want to give him a romance with a girl, but I'm kinds stumped. I dunno how I'll write her."
"Hiro is... he's me, isn't he?"
Enthusiastically, you nod. "Yeah. See, you're my favorite hero, and Anxious was my first book."
"If you like me so much, write his love interest as yourself."
With determination, he looks into your eyes, finding himself drowning in them-not flailing, but willingly letting them consume him. They cascade around him, swallowing him whole and he sinks further and further down- almost.
"Did that." you reply, pushing your noodles around with disinterest. "But I thought it'd be too awkward. I mean at that point, may as well write across my forehead with red ink, reading, I'M HOPELESSLY IN LOVE WITH SUNEATER." You snort. "I'm a huge fan and would do just about anything to call you mine, but good Lord. I still have dignity."
"But I- I wouldn't mind." His anxiety crashes back down, and he groans when he remembers your words about calling him yours.
"Tamaki, I'm sorry, okay? Forget I said anything. After this date, I'll forget all about it. I-"
"No, don't forget. This-this was a great time and I wanna go out again and again and again and I wanna kiss you someday and oh my gosh I just wanna get my hands on you but I promise I'm not a pervert and-"
"Hush." Reaching across the table, you take his hands, "I get the point. If that's what you really want, then we can keep this up, okay? Just calm down." You chuckle a little. "It's not that serious, Love."
"But. I sound like an idiot."
Rubbing your thumb back and forth over the back of his hand, you say to him, "Yes, you really do sound like an idiot. But I truly and genuinely love that about you. It makes you you, and I wouldn't trade you for anything or anyone else."
"Th- th- thank you."
"Don't sweat it!"
As he drives you home, you hum a bit, clearly in a good mood. Amajiki, on the other hand, can't believe this. He went out on a date with a beautiful girl. He's going out with you again. And you're genuinely interested. Part of him thinks it's a dream.
At your door, he fidgets as he waits for you to go inside. But you don't. Instead, you stand there hesitantly, as if you're weighing something. Then, before he can ask, you lean up and press your lips to his. It's innocent enough. Short and sweet.
But the moment you pull away, after those three seconds that felt all too short- he misses the feeling. He wishes it could last longer. But, alas, all good things must come to an end.
"You got your kiss," you whisper. "As for the other stuff, I guess well have to see where life takes us, huh?"
"Yeah."
"Anyways, good night!" You turn and ago into the apartment.
A bit dizzy, he stumbles to his car, not able to get that kiss out of his head. Even so, he can't help but think of what the next date Promises,A/N: Okie dokie, "Hiro Shakudai" translates to jewel" and eating" in Japanese. Well, the same goes for Tamaki's name! Also, Taiyo translates to "sun" to which I believe has obvious motives. However, for anyone who isn't familiar with the anime and just likes fanfiction, Tamaki's hero name is Suneater, so I'll let you connect the dots to that. Also, our baby's quirk is manifest, so he manifests whatever he eats. See the similarities?
