Prelude

Part 1: A Tragic loss

3 years before the accident. "Hey Zach?" "Yes mom?" "Since you're old enough do you think you could watch your sister for us while we leave for the weekend?" "Yeah sure, where will you guys be going?" "Your father and I are going to the United States of America for our Anniversary, you two won't be alone though, we hired a babysitter for you." "Oh, ok." "Ok well the babysitter should be here soon." Knock knock.
"Oh that must be her. Hello?" "Hi, I'm Alice, the babysitter you hired." "Hello, Alice, thank you for watching them." "Oh no problem, Mrs. Williams"
"Ok we'll be leaving now so we don't miss our plane, and please make sure that they are feed, and are put to bed at 10." "Yes ma'am, you don't have to worry about a thing." "Ok kids good bye and we'll miss you." "Bye mom, dad see you later." "Bye bye mommy and daddy I'll see you later too." Both Sophia and Zach "we'll miss you as well." And the door closes.

"Ok kids, are you hungry?" Both say "Yes." Later that night "Ok kids time to get ready for bed." As they both say, "Ok, good night Miss Alice." "Good night to you too kids." As they went to bed Alice heard a knock on the front door. "Hello?" "Hi ma'am, we have unfortunate news to inform you about." "Oh, what happened?" "Sadly Mr. and Mrs. Williams has passed away in a plane accident." "Oh no, that's unfortunate to hear.
Thank you for telling me, I-I just don't know what to tell the kids." "I understand, that this is a difficult subject to talk about, especially when it comes to kids. I won't waste any more of your time, g'night miss." "Yeah, you too." Click. What am I supposed to tell them? Do I just try to hid it until Monday?

Part 2: The News

Monday then arrives and Alice is stressed trying to think of a way to tell the two kids what's going on. "Alice where's mommy and daddy?" I guess it's time to tell them, I'm so nervous. "I'll tell you in a second, first, Zach please come over here I have to tell both you and your sister something."
"Okay." "Alright this is going to be hard for me to say and hard for you to understand, but, your mother and father were in a plane accident." "Oh no, are they okay?" Says Sophia. "No, they... they passed away." Zach has a shocked face but Sophia only being 4 years old has a confused face and asked, "what does that mean?" Zach then says, "It means that they aren't alive anymore." Sophia then understands what's going on and starts to cry, and even though Zach is 13 he starts to cry as well, after watching them for a bit, Alice then gives them a hug trying to comfort them feeling guilty that she had to tell them what had happened.

Part 3: The Departure

Zach is now attending high school and is taking a part time job to help out Alice take care of Sophia now that she is attending elementary school. "Ok Alice we're off to school." said Zach "Alright bye you two." "So, Sophia are you ready for your first day of school?" "Yes." "Okay great because we're here now." "What, already?" "Yup so, are you really ready?" "I guess." "Ok so you will be in class B okay." "Okay." When Zach is about to drop Sophia off she hesitates and then turns around to give him hug. "I'm not ready." As Sophia starts to cry, Zach finds a way to comfort her. "It's going to be alright Sophia Alice will be able to come right back to pick you up from school, you just got to promise me that you'll be alright and be a good girl in class, okay?" "Ok." Then Zach wipes Sophia's tears away, and sends her off to class. (Okay so now it's time for me to head to school as well.) After the school day ends Alice goes to pick Sophia up. "Hi Alice, where's my big brother?" "Hey Sophia, your brother is at work right now." "Aww I wanted him to pick me up." "Maybe next time." "Ok." Meanwhile at Zach's job. "219 your meal is ready!" (Working at a fast food restaurant isn't really ideal but it's the best I can do at 14, I just hope that I can get a better job in the future.) "Hey Zach, I was wondering if you wanted to hangout after work today?" "Sorry Tokumei, I won't be able too, today." "Aww it's alright man, maybe next time."
"Yeah maybe." Later when Zach is on his way home. (I wonder how Alice and Sophia are doing?) A few minutes later... (Alright I'm home now.) Chck. "Oh Hi Zach, you arrived just in time, because I have some unfortunate news to discuss with you and Sophia." "What do you mean?" "Just follow me into the living room, Sophia is already there." "So what did you want to to tell us?" "I-I won't be able to support you guys anymore, and it's not your faults, it's just my family is moving to another part of Japan and I won't be able to stay." "Alice is leaving?" Sophia asks "Yes. don't worry about us Alice I'm sure we can manage without you." "I hope you guys can forgive me." "Like I said, you don't have to worry about a thing, I got this." "You sure?" In Zach's mind (I hope.) "Yes." "Okay then, good ye guy's, I'll miss you." "We'll both miss you as will." They both said in harmony. "Now what Big brother?"
"Things will be the same as it always has been just without Alice."

Part 5: The Accident

Two years has passed after Alice left. "Hey brother, is it alright if I hang out with some of my friends after school today?" "Uhh, sure go ahead just make sure that you behave and listen to your friend's parents, ok." "Okay." "Also where would you guys be going?" "We'll be going Mt. Fuji."
"Nice, you'll be seeing beautiful views there."
"Yup." "When will you guys be back?" "We will be back tomorrow, if that's okay with you?" "Yeah it will be alright, just be safe because Mt. Fuji can be dangerous." "Okay." "Alright well we should be heading out now, do you have everything, Sophia?" "Yes." "Ok, then let's go." "Kay." Sophia and Zach are now on their way to school, and after Zach drops Sophia off, he heads off to school himself. (I hope Sophia stays safe with her friends.) Bzzz. (Oh it's from Sophia, let's see, oh it's one of her friend's parent's phone number, I'll save that for later.) some time goes on and Zach arrives at work. "Hey, guys." His co-workers say back to him "Hello Zach." "Hey Zach have you seen the news?" Says Tokumei. "No, I haven't.
Why, what happened?" "Apparently, there was a shooting on Mt. Fuji." "OH NO!" "Yeah and apparently the guy was robbing a gift shop for some odd reason and it was nuts..." "Hang on Tokumei, I have to check something." Zach then pulls out his phone and starts to call Sophia's phone [Ring, Ring, Ring, "I'm sorry but the person you're trying to call is not available at the moment, please leave a voice recording after the beep." Beep] "Hey Sophia I'm just calling to see if you're alright, please call me back." (Alright let me try calling her friends parents phone number.) [Bep, Beep, Beep] (Damn it, it didn't go through, now what?) "Hey Tokumei, do you mind covering my shift?" "Yeah sure, what's up?"
"I just have something to do." "Okay, well then see you later." Zach the rushes off the a nearby bus stop. (Oh come one, the next stop won't be till 8.) Zach then pulls out his phone and still hasn't got a call back from his sister. (Uh let me try calling one of those e-taxis) [Ring, Ring, Ring, Hello thank you for calling XrebU, how may we help you?] "Uhh yeah can I get a ride please I'm kinda in a hurry." [Alright we're sending one of our closest drivers to your location now.] a few seconds has passed and the driver has arrived
"wow that was fast." "That's what we do best, anyways, where to?" "Mt. Fuji please, and try to go as fast as you can please." "Alright I'll try my best." The XrebU driver drives as fast as he can (of course following speed limits to avoid getting pulled over) eventually they make it to Mt. Fuji,
"That'll be $30 sir." "Right here you go." Zach hastily grabs his wallet from his pocket and pulls out a fifty "keep the change." "But that's too much." "It's fine." Zach then exits the car and gets close the where the accident happened. "I'm sorry sir but you're not allowed in here." "Sorry officer but I think my sister was one of the victims. I hope not but I think she is." " I'm sorry sir I'm still not allowed to let anyone in." A few seconds later the stretcher-bearers come out with the bodies, after they put them in the ambulance on of them went towards the officer "Sir there
was 10 casualties, 3 of them were injured and the rest, let them rest in peace." "Alright thank you for letting me know, and boy you can see if any of the 3 people is your sister." "Thank you officer." Zach heads inside real quick to check if one of the remaining people were his sister, he came out disappointed. "Was one of them your sister?"
"No" "alright I'll see if I can let you check the bodies." The officer then talks through his walkie-talkie quietly. "Alright you can go check, one of the stretcher-bearers will show you the female bodies so you can see if it's your sister." "Thank you officer." Then one of the stretcher bearers came over to where Zach and the Officer was, and leads him to where the bodies were, he then proceeds to open up 4 bags. "Are one of these people your sister?" Zach then proceeds to check the bodies, and the first three he looks at wasn't her, he then proceeds to the final body and there she was, Zach then begins to cry and says "I've should've been here to protect her." It was starting to get dark and the officer came over and said "I'm sorry for your lost, do you have a ride home?" Zach then proceeds to say, "no."
"Alright then I'll drive you home." "I want to be with her." "I know but we got to get you home, it's dangerous at night especially since we are on a mountain, come on." "Okay." Zach says depressed. They then proceed in the police officer's car. "Do you have any other family at home?" "no." "I'm sorry to hear that." The drive back was sad and gloomy for Zach, all he could think about is that he wasn't there for his sister.
