"I'm So Excited" Pointer Sisters

Chapter 7

"So, how did the audition go?" Kendra asked excitedly the next day in Ms. Gold's class. We were working in pairs again, and me and Kendra had partnered up for a project that counted for 50% of our grades this semester.

But since the actual audition, I hadn't thought about once. It seemed irrelevant compared to what happened after it. I AM OFFICIALLY GOING OUT ON A DATE WITH SETH!!!!!! The thing is though, I'm having a lot of regrets about the way I reacted. I should have said something smart or funny. I shoul've played hard to get. I could've at least asked why I should go with him. That's the first thing I'm going to ask him when I call him after school.

Yes, I had his phone number. He had stopped me and given it to me earlier in the day. Once again, I had been speechless and I didn't say anything. He probably thinks I'm mute now.

"Oh, it was good," I answered Kendra, not really caring. She raised her eyebrows at me quizzically. "There's something that you're not telling me," she said.

Geez, was I that obvious?

I sighed and glanced at her. I haven't told her about the date yet. It wasn't that I didn't want to, it was just that I've had a lot on my mind. And they all revolve around Seth. To be honest, I already knew Kendra was going to find out. She was either going to weed it out of me or someone else would tell her. It's probably all over the school by now. That would explain the looks.

"Gwen was there," I said, avoiding her remark. She seemed to know that this wasn't it but she let it go.

"What did she do?" she asked.

"Sing," I answered.

"Born this way."

She raised her eyebrows quizzically. "Typical,"

I laughed and then turned back to my work. But before I could continue, the bell rang. I gathered my things and walked out to the parking lot with Kendra by my side. We said our goodbyes and went our separate ways.

Gosh. I make it sound like we're never going to see each other again.

Well anyway, I got in my car and drove out of the school with the radio on full blast.

I made a few stops on the way. While I was singing along to "I Need a Doctor" I noticed a car trailing me. Watching it, I suddenly realized that I had seen it at school. We had pulled out at the same time. It had also been there when I went on the highway, when I stopped at McDonald's, bought some gas and..... Oh My Gosh, I'm being stalked. Help Me.

'Maybe I should try and lose it,' I thought.

I sped up and cut off a couple cars ahead of me, earning myself a mixture of glares and middle fingers. I looked behind me to check for the car.
