Chapter 10

Victoria's Pov 

" Where is the mayor ? " I asked.

I am immediately greeted by Felicia Fame.

" The mayor is having a meeting now. If you want to meet with her, you must wait until her meeting is done " Felicia said.

I waited for the mayor with Astoria. As soon as the meeting is done, the mayor greets me and Astoria.

" This is Astoria. We need to discuss about something " I said.

" Very well. Come inside my office " the mayor said.

" You better be careful around them, Jean " Felicia warned and I glare at Felicia for saying that.

Inside of the mayor's office, we talk about the problem between witches and wizards.

" I hope the problem is solved immediately. Cynthia is a good representative. But, I never request for her position to be taken by someone else. It's all Felicia's work "

" Can't you take Cynthia as the representative of the witches again ? " Astoria asked.

" There is a certain period for a representative so I can't just replace Sofia with Cynthia "

" When is her period ending ? " I asked.

" 3 more months "

" I think you should reconsider having Felicia as your assistant cause she loves to make chaos around our kind " I said.

" I heard that she's your step mother "

" She is her step mother. But, Felicia killed her real parents and cursed her brother " Astoria replied.

" Oh dear, it must be hard for you, Victoria "

" Don't worry, I'm okay " the mayor hug me and I hug her back.

This is what I love about humans. They're very caring . 

" I will find someone else as my assistant. One that has no histories of doing criminal things "

" Thank you for listening to us "

" You are very welcome, dearies. Don't forget the meeting is next week "

" I will certainly remember that "

As soon as we walk out from the mayor's office, we head to the parking lot.

" Are you alright, V ? "

" I'm alright, A "

We hop in to my car and go back to my mansion. As we drive back to the mansion, the silence filled the air.

" I've texted the guys to meet us on your mansion. They're on their way now , V " 

" Thank you , A "

" So, how was life when your brother was cursed and your parents are dead ? "

" Hard. I need to learn to survive on my own and you weren't there with me " I look to the window to prevent my tears from falling out.

" We lost contact with each other, V . I still blame myself for not being there with you "

" I don't want you to blame yourself for something you didn't know , A " 

" When did you meet Cynthia ? "

" The first time was when we did the blood vow to protect the relic . But, I wasn't close with her back then "

" When are you two close with each other ? "

" The second half of last year. She remind me of you, A "

" I like her. She's nice "

" But, she can't replace you. You'll always have a special place in my heart , A "

" Glad to know that you never forget me , V "

" Are we there yet ? " I asked the driver.

" We're almost there , Ms. Valor "

" Do you make any friends other than me ? "

" I have friends. But, not as close as you. They're just work friends "

" Ladies, we have arrived " 

We get out from the car.

" How was it ? " Asher asked.

" Good but she said that Sofia can't be replaced until three months again " I answered.

" Crap, that's not good " Rick said.

" How was it with you two ? " Astoria asked them.

" We were able to convince the other wizards to leave the hiding " Asher said.

" We also told them about our situation now " Rick continued Asher's words.

" We found out that the one who replaced Cynthia isn't the mayor but her assistant who loves to create chaos around our kind "

" So, it was intentional for her to change the representative ? " Rick asked.

" Yes, it was indeed intentional . Not to mention that she killed Victoria's parents and cursed her brother "

" That must be hard for you to cope with, Tori " Asher said to me.

" It was until I learned how to survive on my own , Ash"

As I walked to the entrance of my house, I stumble upon a rock and I almost fall to the ground until Asher caught me in his arms. I am distracted by his green eyes and he stares at my blue eyes. None of us wants to stop our gaze.

" Someone's falling in love " Astoria said.

When she said that, I look away from his eyes and stand up straight.

" You are talking utter nonsense, A " I said . 

I can still feel Ash's lingering gaze on me.

" They do make a great couple, don't they " Rick said.

When I step inside my mansion, I can't help but to wonder about Felicia's next move.
