"goodbye, goodbye, goodbye. you were bigger than the whole sky."
When you had returned to the dorms, you found yourself spending a lot of time with Izuku.
He was there with you at the hospital, so you two were united in grief over the death of Sir Nighteye.
You were hanging out together practically every single night. You would go to one of your dorms, then hang out there until one of you got tired and wanted to sleep.
Which was usually Izuku. You were used to staying up for long hours since you had trained throughout the middle of the night at the Commission multiple times, whereas he was almost always waking up early to train.
Right now, you were sitting in your room, Izuku watching you do your skincare.
"If you don't mind me asking, what was it that Sir gave you?" Izuku asks you.
Those earrings. You had been wearing those earrings ever since you took them out of the box.
You turn to face him, taking out the earring and handing them to him, "It was these earrings. They match the necklace that he gave me over ten years ago now."
He takes the earrings from you, holding them gently in his hands as he examines them.
They were beautiful.
"I'm sorry." You randomly tell him, "I'm sorry that I wasn't there to help you at the end of the fight."
He looks up from the earrings to look at you, confusion evident on his face, "Sorry? (y/n), you have nothing to be sorry for."
"If I hadn't acted recklessly and taken that knife out of my side knowing that I shouldn't have, then maybe things would've turned out differently."
"You can't keep yourself hung up on what could've happened." He tries to explain, "It's only going to bring you more stress. You can't change what happened, so why worry yourself over the what-ifs?"
That was one of the many bad habits you picked up over the years.
After anything happened that involved someone getting hurt in any way, you would replay the whole situation in your head over and over again.
Madam President would always turn everything into your fault. And now, you would do the same thing to yourself.
"If you had just listened to my instructions, nobody would've gotten hurt."
"It's no use now, (y/n). You already screwed everything up. You better hope that you don't end up screwing up the same way your mother did."
