Chapter 4
The next week seemed to go by painfully slowly, mocking me as it went, laughing at me all the while i struggled to not think of the very thing my mind seemed to only want to think about. It was a hard job, lemme tell you.
Instead of concentrating in class and taking notes, my mind always wandered to Sebastian. What he was doing, Why he seemed to be strangely interested in me, and what exactally was his mysterious past.
I was dying to talk to him again, but sadly enough for me, i hadnt seen him all day today. I was just finishing fourth period, and heading to lunch with Damien as i talked to him about my problems.
"I just don't understand why you're so obsessed..." Damien chuckled.
"I'm not obsessed! I don't even care anymore" I yelped, causing quite a few odd stares and even a glare or two. Annoying people. I dropped my voice back down to a whisper, and added "I mean, I don't think i care anymore. I sure as hell don't WANT to."
He gave me a small squeeze. "I know honey, but the heart doesn't always like to listen to us... not much we can do then."
I sighed. "Damien, that color blue looks gorgeous on you by the way. Your looking pretty fine if i do say so myself." I said noticing this cute and veryyy gay guy from my Spanish class pass by us slowly, on his way to lunch no doubt.
"Oh my thank you babe. You're lookin' pretty sexy yourself" he winked at me.
I nudged him towards the cute guy, Eric, and gave him a big dorky thumbs up, encouraging him. He smiled at me, and sped up, falling in step with him. Great. That left me to sit pretty much alone for lunch.
I got my lunch, which was a delicious looking meat surprise and a mashed-something on the side.
Please note the heavy sarcasm.
Looking around the lunchroom, I then decided to sit outside instead. It was a gorgeous day outside anyway, may as well enjoy it before the weather becomes unbearably hot.
I breathed in the fresh scent of spring, not even bothering to touch the mystery meal that was intended to be my lunch. I went out onto the field, running around in circles with my arms spread wide. If only I could fly... man birds have it pretty good... well besides for those in the forests that are hunted and shot, or those poor things that get snatched up by a pouncing cat, or hit by a car... I gulped. Never mind, I wouldn't wana be a bird anyway.
After a very boring rest of the day, I made my way home, and right away got into the kitchen, inspired to make a delicious dinner since i was starving from lack of lunch.
"Oh honey, I didn't know you were home." My mother said as she walked into the kitchen at about 7. I was just finishing up a stir fry with chicken, slices of steak, veggies and a mixture of brown and white rice marinated in some wine and a splash of soy sauce.
Weird recipes are my specialty. They always come out pretty good though, so it's fun to experiment.
"Hey mom, where have you been..." I trailed off finally noticing what she was wearing. "Man, since when do you get so dressed up to go to work? I didn't know nurses had to be so sexy." Laughing I began to set the table.
"So who is he?" I asked, my interest spiking.
My mother and I talked about everything.
Literally.
She always goes on dates with the sweetest gentlemen, and me... well lets just say the sixteen year old doesn't get as lucky as her mom of forty. Pretty pathetic I know, but i'm proud of her for getting out there, searching for Mr. right.
