Chapter 20 - END
“Yeah! You go boss!”
“Get a room!”
“Wooo!”
All the men in the domed room yelled as Sebastian pulled me into his cold lap, and continued to kiss me in front of them all. I kissed him back enthusiastically, knowing that I had to put every ounce of my energy into it to keep him fooled. He pulled away from me and smiled up at me.
“Now… Nia darling. I don’t want to see that you are shirking your responsibilities.”
“No Sebastian, of course not.”
His tone was so serious, a hint of his previous smile still lingering on his lips. My hand trembled, and I held it behind my back to hide it.
“Well, get going. You have many people to serve today.”
I nodded and gathered the garbage from last night’s dinner on the tray, and scurried out of the room. Once I was finally out of the long hallway I paused to catch my breath. Walking out of that hallway always scared me half to death.
Standing there, memories of the first day I arrived came back to me…
Flashback
“I will be all powerful, and you and your father will be dead.
“…unless you chose to be with me. Sam is dead now, and no I am all you have. Join me, Nia, or perish with the rest of the world.”
“But if you don’t kill me, how will you get the power?”
“I am not quite certain yet, but there is a ritual that can be done, to gain the power, but spare your life. What will it be Nia? Be killed, along with your worthless father, or stand by my side in triumph.”
The hardest decision of my life was staring me in the face. How could I save my father, and the entire world, but still get out of this alive, and without Sebastian?
Then it hit me. I’ll have to pretend to be with him until I can figure out a way to escape. I would find Sam, if he’s even still alive. The thought that he could be gone forever made my throat tighten.
Nodding, I took a timid step forward. “What do you need of me Sebastian?”
His face broke out into a wide, evil grin.
“Nia, you are mine.”

I wiped at the perspiration at my forehead, and rushed off to continue my duties of the day.
It had to be today.

After all of our daily duties were done for the day, we were excused to have some time to ourselves because, as Sebastian put it, they are not “complete monsters.”
I sat on my bed, changed into my old sweat pants and big t-shirt, waiting for the men to do last roll call.
Yes, they gave us a couple hours of solitude without anything to have to clean, but there are, of course, rules.
Visiting another person in another room is strictly forbidden. We are allowed to converse with our roommate, and no one else. If one was caught walking the hallway or out of their room when they do roll call, that person would be hunted down and punished. Severely.
Unfortunately for me and my plans of escape, they did roll call twice a night; one an hour into our free time, and again at ‘lights out’.
My plan is simple enough. The only problem is making sure everyone is at the same place at the same time.
