Chapter 17
I walked downstairs and posed at the doorway, waiting for Sam to turn around and noticing my attire for this morning.
Deciding to help him out a little, I cleared my throat and watched his jaw drop as he took in my skimpy night gown. Not sure what I was even doing I smirked at him.
“Like what you see, pretty boy?” all he could do was nod. I laughed and sat myself on top of the dining room table that was connected to the kitchen and easily accessible.
“I do love a man who can cook.” I teased, leaning towards him slightly, letting my night gown slip down my right shoulder.
“Nia, what’s wrong? Are you having a serious hangover or something?”
Snapping out of it, I figured he must not like me like that. I flushed in embarrassment. How awkward could this get…? Apparently my awkwardness knew no bounds. Right as I jumped off the table and walked over to Sam, my mother walked into the kitchen. I gasped and jerked away from Sam, still shirtless and slightly sweaty from the heat of the stove top.
She raised her eye brows and looked at me skeptically. I was about to stammer some random excuse when suddenly she broke out in a wide smile.
“Who is this handsome young man Nia, and why is he half naked in my kitchen making breakfast?” She seemed to totally forget about my appearance.
“T-this is Sam… Sebastian’s brother. You know Sebastian right?” My mom just nodded. “I let him stay over after prom last night and we just woke up, so we’re not exactly dressed yet…” I mumbled, realizing that I was beginning to ramble.
“Oh, this is the young man that you talk about all the time?”
I stared up at her with shock. “I haven’t talked about Sam! I just figured out that I like him for crying out loud!” I gasped when I realized what I had just said. “I mean not like him like him, you know. Like him as a friend, like only as a friend, like a guy friend! That you can, you know… have sleep-overs with…” I snapped my mouth shut.
“Well, maybe I was a little out of line. You only talk about him in your sleep.”
I almost cried. “I do not talk in my sleep!” I could feel my face heating up in embarrassment even more than it was before.
“Oh she does, huh?” Sam asked, turning towards me. My eyes widened in horror as Sam and my mom smiled at me mischievously.
“Wait a minute… mom! Stop lying, it’s annoying and rude.” I stated, folding my arms under my chest. Staring at her defiantly, she shifted under my gaze, scratching the back of her head awkwardly.
“Well, I am the mother here. Explain this Nia dear.”
“I already told you… he needed a place to sleep last night and now we’ve only just woken up. Sorry for not asking you first.”
“It’s quite alright honey. Let me just ask you something. You guys didn’t do… you know? The dirty…”
“Oh, ugh no mom! I am still a virgin thank you very much. Why would you even ask that mom? You know me!”
