It was finally time for the showdown everyone had been waiting for: Ash versus Guzma! Both trainers stood resolutely on the battlefield, glaring fiercely at each other from opposite sides. The air buzzed with anticipation.
"Welcome, viewers, to the semi-finals of the very first Alola League!" boomed the announcer, his voice echoing through the stadium.
The crowd erupted in a thunderous roar, their excitement nearly palpable as they cheered for their favourites.
The referee strode confidently onto the field, raising his hand for silence. "This will be a two versus two battle! Trainers, are you ready?"
Both Ash and Guzma nodded, adrenaline coursing through their veins.
"Alright, bring out your Pokémon in 3... 2... 1... GO!"
"Melmetal!" Ash shouted, while Guzma called, "Scizor!" Their Pokémon materialized on the field, ready for battle.
"Battle begins!" the referee declared, his voice crackling with energy.
"Use Agility and confuse it with your speed!" Guzma commanded, his eyes gleaming with determination.
"Scizor!" the bug-type cried out as it zoomed across the battlefield, a flash of red and silver.
"Start spinning, Melmetal, and use Flash Cannon around you to make it hard to move!" Ash countered, a confident grin spreading across his face.
"Metal!" Melmetal responded, beginning to spin slowly. As it gained momentum, a grey flash erupted around it, causing a shockwave that rattled the battlefield. Craters and piles of rubble formed as debris flew in all directions, slowing Scizor down and making it hard to find traction.
Guzma gritted his teeth, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. "Scizor, close in and use Close Combat!" he yelled, desperation edging his tone.
"Keep spinning, Melmetal, and let it come to you!" Ash instructed, his smirk widening as Scizor charged forward.
"Is he up to something again?" Gary murmured, glancing at the others.
"Definitely," they all agreed, their eyes glued to the action unfolding on the battlefield.
"Now, Melmetal! Use Thunder Punch and fuse it with Double Iron Bash!" Ash commanded, his voice sharp with focus.
Electricity crackled around Melmetal's fist as it spun with newfound vigor. Just as Scizor leaped in to deliver its Close Combat, Melmetal unleashed its electrified strike, landing a direct hit!
Gasps echoed through the crowd, awe replacing anticipation as they witnessed Ash's tactical genius unfold.
"So that's his strategy!" Sawyer exclaimed, eyes wide with realization.
Clemont, ever the strategist, elaborated. "Agility boosts speed, but Melmetal is naturally slower. Ash created obstacles with the rubble, preventing Scizor from reaching its full speed. He lured Guzma into making that reckless attack, playing right into his hands. He's not just a powerful trainer; he's brilliant!"
The crowd buzzed with excitement, their respect for Ash growing as they grasped his cunning strategy.
On the battlefield, Scizor was sent flying back, slamming into the ground but still managing to rise defiantly.
"Stop being pathetic and actually fight!" Guzma bellowed, his patience wearing thin. Ash, unfazed, shot back coldly, "You don't know when to shut up."
"Why you... Scizor! X-Scissor, go!" Guzma barked, frustration fuelling his commands.
