The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a warm glow over the landscape as Ash sprang into action, eager to start his day. At 7 AM sharp, he and his Pokémon set off for their daily run, the crisp morning air invigorating them as they navigated the familiar trails. After a solid run, Ash called for a quick battle, his heart swelling with pride as he watched his Pokémon showcase their skills.
"Alright, guys, that's enough for now! Let's head back to the Centre for some breakfast!" he said, his voice brimming with enthusiasm. His Pokémon responded with energetic nods and followed him back.
Once they arrived at the Pokémon Centre, Ash wasted no time whipping up a hearty breakfast. He skilfully stacked fluffy pancakes, their golden edges crisping perfectly, and arranged a colourful assortment of fresh fruit on the side. He also filled several bowls with Pokémon food, ensuring his team had plenty of fuel for the day ahead.
As his Pokémon eagerly dug into their meals, Ash found himself staring blankly at his own plate. Despite feeling physically energized, his mind felt heavy with exhaustion. Even though they had triumphed over evil, he couldn't shake the feeling of unease. Memories of past struggles replayed in his mind, each one a reminder of the battles they had faced together. He wrestled with the thought of how he could ever reconnect with his friends after taking a step back for himself, wondering if it was even possible to bridge the distance that had formed between them as he grappled with his newfound power.
A deep sigh escaped him, and Pikachu, ever aware of Ash's emotions, jumped onto his shoulder and nuzzled his cheek. "Pika-pi?" it asked, concern evident in its big, bright eyes.
Ash turned to his loyal companion, forcing a smile. "I'm alright, Pikachu. Just a lot on my mind. No need to worry," he reassured, hoping to ease Pikachu's concern. The Electric-type returned the smile and hopped back to its bowl, resuming its meal. Ash then started to eat his breakfast.
Meanwhile, at the Lumiose City Pokémon Centre, the others stirred awake around 7 AM, the scent of breakfast wafting through the air. They gathered in the dining area, enjoying a hearty meal together before heading off to their morning routines. Paul and Gary wasted no time, stepping outside to train intensely with their Pokémon, pushing them to their limits. Meanwhile, May and Dawn focused on helping Serena refine her performance routine, offering encouragement and support as she practiced her moves. In another corner, Clemont was tinkering with a new invention, surrounded by tools and gadgets, while Bonnie lovingly cared for her Pokémon, making sure they were well-fed and happy.
After an hour of activities, they packed their bags and set off towards Cyllage City. As they walked, Bonnie turned to Serena, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "So, Serena, are you looking forward to performing again?" she asked eagerly.
"Yeah, I can't wait!" Serena replied, her enthusiasm evident. Deep down, she was thrilled at the chance to pursue her dream of becoming the Kalos Queen once more. Yet, as she thought about it, a familiar pang of longing tugged at her heart. Something felt off—not just anything, but someone was missing. A frown creased her brow, and the change in her expression didn't go unnoticed.
"Hey, Serena, are you alright?" Dawn asked, her tone filled with concern.
Serena sighed, her gaze drifting as she replied, "I miss Ash. Even though my performance routine went well this morning, it didn't feel the same without him there. I just didn't have the spark to bring out my best."
May and Dawn exchanged sympathetic glances before wrapping Serena in a gentle hug. "We all miss him," May reassured her. "But we both know the real reason you want him here," Dawn added with a playful smirk.
Serena's cheeks flushed a deep shade of pink as she shot a playful glare at her friends. "Oh, will you just stop?" she said, a mix of annoyance and embarrassment in her voice.
