Chapter 15

Juliette
Then

Jackson left early the following morning for his trip to Canada with the boys. He told Juliette that she was to move back into the main bedroom that day and that he would check to confirm that it was done. He also informed her that she was to remain at the mansion.
"I do not want you wandering off and telling everybody our business. That got you into trouble the last time, and we do not want that again now, do we?" he asked? "I want you to enjoy exploring the grounds and contemplating how to make me a father. What can you do to help that situation?" Juliette nodded, and Jackson raised her chin slightly to look at him.
"I love you, Juliette Keller," he said softly in a deep baritone. Juliette looked at him, and her eyes were glazed over. Jackson pulled her by the arm into the dining room. The morning sunlight shone brightly through the open curtains, bathing the furniture in a warm glow. He applied pressure, and she remained silent. "I said I love you," he said slowly, waiting for her to reciprocate. Juliette looked up at him and smiled sardonically.

"Do you, Jackson? Do you really?" she asked with sarcasm. Jackson reeled back, stunned by her questioning.

"You doubt that, Juliette?" he asked low. Juliette stared hard at him and spoke.

"All I know is what you have shown me, Jackson, in the brief time we have been married, and it has been far from love. It has been hurt, humiliation, and pain," she said through tears. Jackson leaned down and kissed her gently on her forehead.

"I do not regret choosing you, Juliette. You are going to be a good wife for me. We just have some kinks to work out," He smiled darkly. He squeezed her upper arm and ruffled her long blond hair with his hand. Juliette cringed at his touch. "Now, tell me you love me like a good wife," he ordered. Juliette smiled and spoke.

"I love you, Jackson," she forced herself to say and smiled prettily. "I love how you keep me here as a prisoner and call for me like I am one of your servants. I love how you will not let me breathe. I love how you keep your finger on me," she said angrily. "I fucking love it!"

Jackson pulled her to him and kissed her hard on her lips, and grabbed her butt through her pink satin pajamas, "God, I'll miss you, woman!" he exclaimed, letting her go.

Juliette stumbled back against a dining room chair and shook her head. Jackson had not heard one word that she had said. Not one.

***

Juliette watched Jackson throw his baggage in the trunk of his car and felt glad to see him drive away. She walked through the dining room and up the stairs to her bedroom. The guest bedroom. Juliette called for Lettie by ringing a bell attached to the wall above the door. Her housekeeper came from opposite the hallway where she had been dusting the bedroom.
"Yes, Ma'am?" Lettie questioned. Juliette turned in a circle around the vast room.

"Mr. Keller has ordered me to move back into the main bedroom. Can you pack my things, please, and see that it is done quickly?' Juliette asked kindly. Lettie smiled.

"Of course, Mrs. Keller." Juliette nodded her head and walked out of the bedroom. She went downstairs and walked through the grand mansion. Juliette saw the servants busily dusting and polishing furniture and then wandered into the kitchen and smelled something delectable that made her tastebuds stand for attention.

Mary was busy peeling apples at the long white marble counter, and she turned white as a sheet when she saw Juliette walk into the kitchen, Ida, the head cook, looked up from stirring a pot of vegetable and beef stew and wiped her hands on her white apron tied around her waist. "Well, morning, Mrs. Keller!" She said in a cheerful Irish accent. She was round and jolly with flaming red hair and bright blue eyes that sparkled with intelligence. "And to what do we owe this pleasure?" she asked loudly. Juliette smiled and held up her hand.
