chapter 31 |Day off|

|Rouge's POV| 

"Well, your day off is finalized, ma'am. Have an amazing vacation," she said as she stamped my letter and handed it back. "A girl needs her beauty rest after all. And please, be a dear and tell Omega I'm visiting Shadow the Hedgehog," I replied, walking off to wait for my ride. 

Outside the G.U.N head quarters, A red Ferrari pulled up in front of me. "You're not even going to open the door for me?" I teased, smiling as he rolled his eyes and opened it. "I can't believe you got a license. Last time I checked, you were more clueless with technology than a grandma," I said as I fastened my seatbelt, turning to him. 

"Tails installed a self-driving feature for me," Knuckles muttered, embarrassed. "Don't be a tomato now, you're already red enough." I kissed his cheek and reached for a Master Emerald shard, but he caught my wrist. 

"Nice try, bat. You think I don't know your tricks?" He smirked, and I groaned. "Fine, but you'd better let me lay on that Master Emerald once you have all the shards again. After all, I'm wasting my vacation helping you," I said, reaching for my purse to fix my makeup. "I don't even know why we got married," he mumbled. 

I frowned stomping on his feet "I didn’t even want to be married to you, I just felt bad," I huffed, but we both broke into laughter. 

"So, we're visiting Shadow first?" he asked. "Yes, I want to see him," I confirmed as he typed the location into Tails' invention, making the car drive itself. 

After a long ride, we made it to Green Hills. I couldn’t help but smile as memories of me and Shadow running and driving around this city to find Sonic flooded back. We arrived at the hospital, and walking through the halls, we reached Shadow's room. Seeing him like this broke my heart. I sat down in a chair next to his bed. 

"Well, when I thought you'd never be taken down, here you are," I laughed a bit, smiling as I held his hand. "Aren't you happy to see your gorgeous friend?" I smirked, but my eyes were gentle. "You know you still piss me off. You left me and Omega to handle all the missions." 

I placed some coffee bean-scented candles beside him. "I brought your favorite candles, coffee bean scented," I said. Suddenly, the bed started to shake, and so did he. 

"Knuckles, call a doctor now!" I panicked, turning to him as he ran off for help. "Shadow! It’s fine!" I tried to calm him down. Suddenly, his eyes shot open, and he sat up in a panic. 

"Oh... my god," I muttered, wide-eyed. 

After we calmed Shadow down, I hugged him, shushing him. "Oh, how I've missed you!" I pulled back and tugged on his ear. "Don't you dare pull that stunt again."

"Ow! Where’s Sonic? I need to see him," Shadow demanded. "Oh, right. Knuckles, dear, can you call Sonic to come to the hospital?" I asked. 

"Sure, but he might not pick up. He's busy planning his wedding—" "HIS WHAT?!" Shadow and I screamed, cutting him off. 

"Oh, you didn’t know?"
