Indies pov
I'm standing in my bedroom deciding on how I'm gonna tell dad about me and Lainey. I decided it's best if we're doing something we both like.I decided fishing was the best option so that's where we went. "Dad, can I talk to you about something?" I ask.
I casted my line and prayed for a good outcome."Yeah, what's up?" He asks. This was it. "Me and Lainey, we're uhm" I stutter. Dad stares curiously.
"We're dating, and I don't want you to be upset with me" I explain."Why would I be upset?" He asks, relief washed over me. "I don't know, I just thought you might" I reply.
"Listen as long as you don't knock her up, your good, be respectful and responsible and there will be no problems""Well, I don't see that happening so I'm fine" I reply. "Good" he replies.
Later that day I called Lainey to see if she'd told Hardy yet.
"So? Did you tell him?"
I couldn't, I was too scared.
"I told dad, so it's a matter of time before yours finds out"
I know, I know, how did Morgan react?
"He wasn't upset at all, kinda happy actually, he just told me not to knock you up"
You won't be knocking me up, that will not happen.
"Until we're married obviously"
That's enough, I'm gonna tell my mom, and she can tell dad since she won't be as upset.
"Whatever is more comfortable for you"
Okay, cya later.
"Love you, Bye"
After hanging up I decided I'd help dad out and go pick up Ellie from school. "Should I go pick Ell up?" I ask.
"Sure, thanks" Dad replied.I walk to my truck and drive towards her school. Keeping this secret for me has made me trust her more than I thought I did.
I pull into the carpool line and wait till I see her. "Hey! Ellie!" I shout out my window. "Dude! What're you doing here?" She asks.
"Picking you up from school" I reply. She hopped in and threw her backpack in the back seat. "So, how was school?" I ask.
"Okay dad" she teases. "It was good"
"I'm bout to starve" She mentions. "Well, we'll go do a two for one pick up Lainey and get lunch" I explain.
"Deal"Ellie's pov
I'm sitting on the opposite side of the table from Lainey and Indie while I eat my food. I can't help but wonder if he's told dad or not."Have you told mom and dad yet?" I ask. "Told dad, so I'm sure mom knows now" he replies. "Well what'd he say?" I ask.
"Just told me not to knock her up" he replies, I wrinkle my nose. "Eugh! You better not even look at her that way" I mention.
"He won't" Lainey assures, with the same disgusted expression. Once we finished we decided to stop by Uncle Baileys since Indies truck was acting up on the way.
I hopped out and knocked on the front door in hopes he was home. Raelynn answered the door, her dog Jumping on me as she opened it. "No! Down! Piper!" Raelynn scolded.
"She's fine, is your dad home?" I ask. "No, he's at a show, what do you guys need?" She asks.
"Indies trucks been acting up lately and we were gonna see if he could check it out""I can look at it, I've been working in the shop" she mentions. I nod thankfully. "Just pull down to the shop and I'll be there in a second" she instructs.
I hopped back in Indies truck and told him to drive to the shop. "Rae's gonna look at it" I explain.
"Rae? She knows that stuff?" Indie asks hesitantly. "Just trust her" I reply.Once we pull into the garage Indie explained his problem to Raelynn and she immediately got to work.
"Probably a bad Radiator, especially with all the coolant leaks" she explains."How much would something like that cost?" He asks. "Your family so, nothing?" She replies.
"Nah I've gotta pay you something" he argues.
"A new radiator typically costs up to $300, so with a family discount it would roughly be about $150 unless I find anything else" she explains."Since when did you learn mechanics Rae?" I ask. "I've been doing it forever, just recently made it a job" she explains. "I bet the guys think it's badass when they come get their trucks fixed" I tease.
"Actually, they don't trust me when dad tells them I'm doing it" she replies. "Shame, we trust you" I assure.
After a couple hours Indies truck was finished."Alright, fresh Radiator, new coolant, everything should be nicely running" she explains. "Thank you so much Rae!" I exclaim.
"Here's $250, you deserve it" Indie said handing Rae the money. "Thanks! Just let me know if it starts acting up again" she explains.
"Hey, we're having a girls night next Saturday, you wanna come with? It'll just be a movie and ice cream after"
I suggest. "Sure! Just text me" she replies."Thanks for all the help! I'll cya Saturday!" I shout out the truck window. As we drove home I was making fun of Indie about his doubts about Raelynn.
