This mission hadn't been entirely difficult. You overtook a Separatist base, retrieved some information, and out you were. Of course there were droids shooting at you currently, but nothing you and the Bad Batch couldn't handle.
You jump onto the Marauder with your lightsaber still ignited, standing on the ramp to block more blaster fire. Crosshair jumps up behind you and runs inside. Wrecker and Hunter follow behind.
You follow Hunter inside as the ramp begins to close. Tech's rough flying and the constant cannon fire jostles the ship around. Just as the ramp closes, you bump into Hunter by accident. At least Hunter wasn't the one flying. He looks at you quizzically then walks towards the cockpit.
Wrecker is already strapped into one of the chairs with the restraint harness pulled over his chest. Crosshair fumbles with his as you walk crookedly over to a chair. Was it normally this hard to walk straight while flying?
You finally reach the chair and sit in it. You pull down the restraint harness as Tech tilts the ship upside down. Your eyes go wide and you quickly secure the harness, closing your eyes and pressing your lips together as you do so. The spinning feels sickening. Wrecker screams in delight.
Once the spinning stops, you feel a lurch and then steady smoothness. Hyperspace.
You open your eyes and remove the restraint, getting out of your chair. Hunter walks out from the cockpit, yelling back at Tech, "Get those systems online! We need it working before we land."
"Will do, Hunter." Tech replies before the door to the cockpit slides closed.
You stand up from the chair and blink several times. The room still feels like it's spinning.
"You good?" Hunter asks.
You nod, not daring to open your mouth just yet, in case any previous contents of the day decide to spill out. You take a step forward, well you intended to go forward, but instead you step diagonally, right into Hunter's back. You quickly push off of him and open your mouth to apologize. That's when you realize you'd been holding your breath. "Sorry."
Hunter turns around to face you. "Are you sure you're alright?"
"I'm fine." It comes out much more high-pitched that you had hoped.
Hunter frowns and takes a step into your personal space. He stares at your cheek and doesn't move. "Your heart is racing."
"No, it's not." You deny.
Hunter puts a hand on your shoulder and looks into your eyes. "I can hear your heartbeat. It should've slowed down by now."
Maybe if he'd take a step back your heart rate would slow. But no. This has been happening all day. Irregular breathing, a fast heart rate, and dizziness.
You swat his hand off of your shoulder and turn to walk away. "I'm fine, Hunter."
You take a step forward and instantly regret it. It feels like the ship is doing 360's again, but you're in the calm of hyperspace. You hold your breath and stagger forward with your arms outstretched. It looks like you've already hit the floor three times, but there you are, still seeming to tip over.
You take another step forward, this time feeling your knees hit the cold, steel floor as your eyes roll into the back of your head.
--------------
A muffled voice calls out your name.
You open your eyes to see Hunter staring down at you with a panicked expression. You look around dazedly and notice you're lying on the floor. Hunter has his arms wrapped around you, and your head is propped up by his bicep.
Your eyes finally wander back to Hunter's worried face. Another face appears above Hunter's. It's Tech.
Tech crouches down beside you and scans your face with some medical device. You blink and coil up into Hunter's arms at the sudden bright, blue light.
"She doesn't seem to be suffering from anything severe. It's not dehydration either."
"Then what is it?" Hunter asks, his voice lower than usual.
"I'm not sure." Tech adjusts his goggles and taps at his datapad. Hunter gazes at your face. You stare back, wondering what he's thinking. Hunter's eyes meet yours with a sudden realization. "When was the last time you slept?"
Your lips part as you look at Hunter in surprise. Sure, you'd only slept a bit over the last week, but how had he noticed?
"I'm really fine, Hunter." Hunter rolls his eyes and nearly growls as he lifts you up in his arms. He carries you over to his bunk and lies you down.
You sink into the warmth of his bed and close your eyes. The lights dim and you can hear a strange clicking sound. The bed sags and you open your eyes to see Hunter in his blacks slipping in beside you.
Your eyes widen, and before you can pull away, Hunter wraps his arms around you and pulls you close to his chest. You tense up, trying to fight against the drowsiness that hits your body. Your eyes close and you can't help but lean into Hunter's chest. He's so warm. He smells good. He's better than any pillow you've ever slept on.
Your eyes snap open again. Would this be forming attachments? You were trained to be... You can't finish the thought as sleep overcomes you.
Hunter holds you tight as you drift off to sleep, one of his hands gently combing through your hair. He listens to your heartbeat and smiles as he feels your steady breathing against his chest. Soon, sleep overcomes him as well.
