When you heard word from Rex that Echo was still alive, it left you an absolute wreck. Echo was on his over to your place now, and you didn't think you'd be able to compose yourself at all. You spent so long mourning him, and now he's back?

You hear a knock at the door, and quickly run to open it. Echo stands before you. He looks so different. As tears fill your eyes, you take a step towards him. He smiles at you and holds out his arms. You crash into him and stuff your wet face into his neck.

Echo holds you tight as you sob. You faintly hear him say, "Shh, it's okay. I'm here now." Echo bends over and picks you up in his arms, walking inside the house and shutting the door behind him. You slide out from his arms. "I'm so sorry." You wipe your eyes. "I forgot to let you in."

Echo chuckles, "It's good to see you, too." Echo smiles at you. He sees your eyes wander up and down his body in worry, so he takes your hand and guides you over to the couch. "We have a lot to catch up on."

You wipe your eyes again and joke, "That's for sure." You sit down next to Echo and ask him, "What happened? Rex didn't tell me much."

Echo stares at your knee and gives a small smile, "The Techno Union captured me at the Citadel. They..." Echo chokes on his own words, and you immediately slide right beside him and wrap your arms around his neck, leaning your face close to his. Echo closes his eyes at your movement and takes a deep breath, "Took my mind and used every battle tactic against the Republic." Echo breathes shakily against your face, his eyes still closed. You gently place a hand on the back of his head and surround him in a warm hug. Echo's good hand tightens into a fist on the back of your shirt.

"Let it all out, Echo." Echo buries his face into your neck, loud sobs escaping his mouth. You hold him close, rubbing circles on his back and muttering reassuring words, "You're safe now. It's alright."

Once Echo's sobs taper out, he pulls back to look at you. He places his hand on your cheek and smiles. "I miss you..." He leans his forehead against yours, "So much." You close your eyes and smile, moving your hands from his neck all the way down his arms. With one hand you grab his hand and squeeze. Your other hand gently feels his scomp. Echo lifts his scomp between the two of you, staring down at it.

"Part of my new self," He whispers. You look up at him and notice his worried expression. You tenderly rub your hand up and down the area where his arm attaches to the scomp. "I kinda like it." You smile up at him. Echo sheepishly looks you in eyes, "Really?" Your smile widens and you decide to move your hands up to Echo's head. You brush your hands past his exposed ears and gently drag a finger around to each socket plug. You whisper back, "I think you're beautiful just the way you are, Echo."

Echo looks down into your lap, tears welling up in his eyes. He lets out a shaky breath, "I'm more machine than man now." You place a hand on his cheek and raise his face to meet yours. You stare him dead in the eyes, "That doesn't matter to me. I'm so thankful to have you back, Echo." Echo closes his eyes and leans his forehead against yours, sniffing, "Thank you."

Echo presses his lips to yours. You kiss him back firmly, yet gently.

Echo leans back with a smile on his face. "You still haven't found out how much else of me is metal." You stare at him quizzically. Echo smiles and takes your hand in his and your other hand on his scomp. You watch as he brings your hands to his knees and with his good hand, covers your hand on his knee. You look back up at him. Echo gives you a smug smile, "They're metal legs."

You look back down at his knees. You can feel the metallic joints underneath his clothes. You work your fingers down slightly past his knee, feeling the metal that are now his legs.

You glance back at Echo. He seems more comfortable now than he was earlier. You lift your fingers back to his knee and drag your fingers up his leg, feeling for where the metal ends. "Can you feel anything?" You ask curiously.

"No." Echo waits as your fingers make their way up his thigh. About halfway up, you feel where the metal meets his skin. Echo sits up straight from the contact. You giggle, "You can feel that?" Echo smiles and places his hand over yours. "Yeah, I can feel that." You turn over your hand so your palm is facing up. Echo makes shapes into your palm. It tickles. You giggle and curl up into his side, letting his fingers continue their tickle quest in your hand.

Echo leans his head against yours and sighs, "I missed you so much, Mesh'la. I love you."

You smile and close your eyes, "I love you more, Echo."
