Aiko's mind was racing, her heart pounding in her chest as she stood face-to-face with the villain from her past. His cold, malicious eyes bore into her, and memories of that terrifying night when he had almost kidnapped her flooded her thoughts. But she wasn't a helpless child anymore. She had to protect Ren and herself.
The villain's smirk widened as he took a slow step forward. "You thought you could hide from me forever?" His voice was a low, menacing growl. "But the media was so helpful in leading me right back to you. I always knew I'd find you again."
Aiko's body tensed. She knew why he was here—he had gotten a taste of her quirk all those years ago, and now he wanted more. But he had no idea what she was truly capable of. He didn't know about the darker side of her Serenity quirk, the side that could unravel a person's mind and drive them to the brink of insanity.
She glanced down the hallway where Ren had disappeared, hoping he would stay hidden. She had no choice but to face this villain alone until help arrived. Kaminari was on his way, but she wasn't sure how much time she had.
Her fingers twitched, and her mind flashed back to the fighting lessons her parents had insisted she take after the first kidnapping attempt. She hadn't fought in years, and she knew she was rusty, but she had to try. If she could get close enough to touch him, just hold his head for a few moments, she could reverse her quirk and trap him in his own mind.
"You're not taking me anywhere," Aiko said, her voice steadier than she felt.
The villain chuckled darkly, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "We'll see about that."
And with that, he lunged.
Aiko barely had time to react. She dodged to the side, but not fast enough—his hand caught her shoulder, slamming her into the wall with enough force to knock the air out of her lungs. She gasped, her vision blurring for a moment as pain shot through her body.
"You're not going to win this," the villain sneered, grabbing her by the wrist and twisting her arm painfully. "I'll make sure of it."
Aiko gritted her teeth, her mind racing. She couldn't let fear overtake her. She had to remember her training, had to stay focused. Ignoring the pain in her arm, she twisted her body and kicked out with her leg, catching the villain in the side. He grunted in surprise, loosening his grip just enough for her to pull away.
She stumbled back, her heart racing as she tried to find an opening. Her hands trembled, but she knew what she had to do. If she could just get close enough to him—to touch his head, to reverse her quirk—she could turn the tide.
The villain rushed at her again, his movements quick and ruthless. Aiko ducked under his arm, narrowly avoiding his grasp, and landed a shaky punch to his ribs. It wasn't much, but it was enough to give her a second of breathing room.
She needed to get closer.
"You've gotten better," the villain growled, wiping a trickle of blood from his lip. "But it won't be enough."
Aiko's breath was ragged as she backed up, her eyes locked on his every move. She had to time it perfectly. One wrong step, and she'd lose her chance.
"I don't need to be the best," she muttered under her breath. "I just need to hold on."
With a burst of determination, Aiko rushed forward. The villain, caught off guard by her sudden aggression, didn't have time to react as Aiko reached up and grabbed his face with both hands.
For a split second, everything stilled.
Then, the reversal began.
Aiko's quirk surged through her hands, her fingers pressing against the villain's temples as she unleashed the hidden side of Serenity. His eyes widened in shock as the calm, soothing effect of her quirk twisted into something darker—something that attacked the very fabric of his mind.
"What... what are you doing?" he gasped, stumbling back as Aiko held on, refusing to let go.
She could feel the shift, the way her quirk invaded his thoughts, unraveling the calm and peace he craved and replacing it with chaos. His breaths became ragged, his eyes wide with fear as his mind began to tear itself apart, struggling to hold onto sanity.
"You wanted my quirk," Aiko said, her voice trembling but firm. "Well, now you've got it."
The villain let out a strangled gasp, his hands clawing at hers as he tried to break free. But Aiko held on, her own body trembling with the effort. She could feel his mind battling itself, the descent into madness beginning.
But then, without warning, he lashed out.
His fist connected with Aiko's side, sending her sprawling across the floor. She hit the ground hard, pain shooting through her body as she gasped for breath. The villain staggered back, clutching his head, but he wasn't down yet. He was still fighting it.
Aiko tried to push herself up, but her body was screaming in pain. Blood trickled from her nose, her vision swimming as the world around her blurred. She had done some damage, but it wasn't enough. She needed more time to fully reverse her quirk's effect.
The villain, disoriented and furious, advanced on her again. He raised his fist, ready to deliver the final blow.
But before he could strike, a crackle of electricity filled the air.
A wave of bright, golden electricity surged through the hallway, lighting up the dim space. The villain froze mid-strike, his body convulsing as the current shocked him into paralysis. Aiko blinked through the haze of pain, her heart leaping with relief.
Kaminari was here.
"Get away from her!" Kaminari's voice rang out, filled with anger and determination as he sprinted down the hallway, his entire body sparking with electricity.
The villain stumbled back, his body twitching as the aftershocks of Kaminari's quirk coursed through him. His eyes darted between Aiko and Kaminari, realizing he had lost the upper hand.
"You're too late, hero," the villain spat, though his voice was weak. "This isn't over."
But Kaminari wasn't listening. His focus was entirely on Aiko.
"Aiko," he breathed, rushing to her side and dropping to his knees. His hands gently cupped her face, his eyes filled with worry as he looked at the cuts and bruises covering her body. "Are you okay? I'm so sorry I wasn't here sooner."
Aiko managed a weak smile, her hand resting on his arm. "You're just in time."
Kaminari's expression softened, but the tension in his body remained. He glanced over at the villain, who was still recovering from the electric shock.
"I'll take care of him," Kaminari said softly, brushing a strand of hair away from Aiko's face. "Just hang in there, okay?"
Aiko nodded, exhaustion washing over her as she leaned against him. She had done her part. Now, it was Kaminari's turn.
