Black Diamond, Black Diamond. If I was Black Diamond, where would I be? Nightshade soared over the forest, searching for that single tree of Black Diamond. She swooped over the giant emerald forest, and she saw a hint of black. Black Diamond!
Nightshade dived to the ground. Her talons reached to grab the Black Diamond, but then she had a thought.
What am I doing? Helping a MudWing? I have to be loyal to my Queen. I have to kill this MudWing. She grimaced. I don't really want to kill Delta, she's nice. But... My Queen might banish me. Or... Nightshade's thoughts trailed off. She paced around in a circle. What should I do? Oh well, I'll decide later... She grabbed a few berries, and soared away over the forest, trying to find Delta.
It was almost night when Nightshade saw a plume of smoke. Delta! She swooped down to find Delta.
"Delta! I'm back!" A small light brown smudge from below the trees moved. Nightshade lowered into a dive, and was able to land right next to the fire, and saw Delta.
Her condition had worsened. She looked pale, and her eyes were bloodshot. Delta looked at Nightshade and nodded at her leg.
"...do it. Quickly." Nightshade gave a quick nod, and gave Delta the berry.
"Are you sure? You're ready?" Delta gulped down the Black Diamond and nodded. Nightshade opened her mouth to shoot the venom, then paused. Is my loyalty to my Queen or to my new friend? What to do? Nightshade hesitated a moment longer, then shot a squirt of venom onto the small rock she had prepared. It started sizzling, and she rubbed it onto the infected wound. Delta started hyperventilating, and she eventually fainted. Of course, by then Nightshade had gotten the venom off, then wrapped the wound in bandages.
You know what? I'm not going to kill this little MudWing. Jacaranda should just let this smart, kind MudWing be Queen instead of Monsoon. Nightshade sat down next to the fire, and drifted off to sleep.

Delta woke up first. She flexed her leg, then stood up. She winced, then grabbed a stick to lash to her bandage to make a splint. She nodded, then poked Nightshade in the tail.
"Wake up. Let's go to the Kingdom of the Sea!" Nightshade groaned, then rolled over. She opened her eyes and shook the sleep out of herself.
"Ugh... Fine." Delta breathed a bit of flame onto the smoking embers of last night, and she grabbed a bit of meat from her pouch.
She glanced back at Nightshade. "You want some?"
"Sure. Gotta have your energy up!" She smiled at the MudWing. "What is that?"
"Just a bit of crocodile." Delta gave Nightshade a piece.
"Thanks."
"No problem!"
They each finished their crocodile, then Nightshade threw some dirt on the fire.
"You ready to go now?" Delta nodded, but her eyes told a different story. Nightshade flinched. "Are you sure?" She asked. "We don't have to go if you don't want to."
"No, no I'm ready."
"Ok then, let's go." Nightshade beat her wings, and lifted above the tree line. Delta followed behind, and soon they were soaring over the brown and green kingdom.
Where will we go after this journey? What will happen to Delta, and what will happen to me after I return, mission incomplete?
Nightshade shook her head, and glanced behind her at Delta. "Come on faster!" Delta sped up, and then they flew, off to the faraway Kingdom of the Sea.
