A creak awoke Nightshade. In a flash, she sat up, turned invisible, and waited. A deep blue SeaWing opened the door. He glanced at Delta, then waved his tail.

Another SeaWing entered, pale green. They were holding 2 bags and a rope. The pale green SeaWing tied the bag around Delta's head, then attached part of the rope.

"Now where's that RainWing..." They muttered under their breath. The blue one nodded at a corner.

"Probably hiding over there, Clam. RainWings are lazy, good for nothin', cowards." Clam nodded, and made their way over to the corner.

"CASCADE! THE RAINWING ISN'T THERE!!!" Cascade narrowed his eyes and leaped over to Clam's throat.

"You are young. You do not yell. I could end you at any moment. I did not have to take you in." His eyes became slits, and his voice dripped with loathing. "My sister's last wish was for me to take you, but that doesn't matter anymore does it? Now do your job. And don't yell." Cascade's face returned to a smile. He released the poor SeaWing's throat, leaving a bead of blood.

Clam lowered their head, obviously terrified. This is the perfect opportunity to escape. Nightshade turned a deep black, then bared her fangs, preparing to spit her venom. She crept up on Clam, but then all went black as she slumped to the floor, a NightWing holding a metal bar behind her.

The NightWing chuckled to himself. This job with the SeaWings was working beautifully. He had been paid almost a year's wages in a month.

"Armageddon!" It was that little SeaWing, Clam. "What should I do with the MudWing?"

"Just take her to the interrogation room. I'll take the RainWing to a holding cell. We'll do her next."

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nightshade woke in a cold chamber. Where am I? Where's Delta? She looked around franticly. Suddenly a huge black shadow loomed over Nightshade. The NightWing, Armageddon, grabbed her by the snout. A NIGHTWING! What is he doing here? NightWings haven't been seen in a thou

She was dragged through twisting hallways by the NightWing. Eventually he dropped her off in front of a foreboding iron door. Umm... What's that? The door opened, and Delta was shoved out.

"Nightshade! Don't tell them anything!" A talon reached out of the door and grabbed Nightshade. She was yanked into the room and the door closed.

It was pitch-black in the room. Nightshade was shoved into a chair, and the sound of footsteps echoed around her.

It was silent for about 30 seconds, each second making the RainWing's heart beat faster and faster. There was a hiss, and a burst of flame. A candle was lit, and a huge NightWing's face was illuminated, inches from Nightshade's face.

"Why are you here? Are you a spy for the RainWings? Are they plotting to kill the Queen? WHY ARE YOU HERE??"

Nightshade shook herself, then began to explain the situation. "I was traveling here with my friend. She-" Wait- Should I tell this guy that she's a princess? "She had some family traveling here, and they died. She wanted to say goodbye."

The NightWing nodded. "The same thing the MudWing told us." He looked behind his shoulder, and Nightshade could just make out Clam taking notes.

"Can we go now? We just want to see Delta's sibs." Nightshade looked at the NightWing.

He sighed. "No. You cannot go. You are intruders, and you have to stay here. I'm sorry. The laws of the Kingdom of the Sea make it so." He looked at Clam. "Take 'em back. We've got all we can out of them."

Clam scurried to lead Nightshade and Delta back to the cold cell with the SandWings. They were piled up together, sleeping. Clam locked the door, and they were in for the night. The RainWing and the MudWing curled up in their respective corners, then settled down for the night.

Clutched in Nightshade's talon was the note Clam had passed her.

It said: "You want to escape. I want to leave. You help me, I help you. Talk at midnight. We can both help each other. -Clam"
