3 days later-

Nightshade's mission had failed. She was captured by MudWings, who were bringing her straight to Queen Monsoon.

Wait, they're taking me to Monsoon! An instant audience with the Queen! Nightshade let out a smile. Maybe her mission wasn't doomed after all. Pink began to spread around her scales.

"Hey! RainWing!" The big one, behind her yelled. "What's that on your scales? Peanut! What does purple on a RainWing mean?"

"Um, purple? You sure you mean purple?" Peanut glanced behind him, at Pecan.

"Wait. Maybe it's..." Pecan closely inspected Nightshade's pink scales. "No, red."

Peanut let out a snort. "Aren't you colorblind?"

Pecan looked down at his talons sadly. "Oh yeah..." While this was going on, Nightshade quickly changed her pink to a dark gray. Pecan let out a grunt of surprise when he looked back at the RainWing. "Oh, never mind."

Suddenly, a large mud, Dune? Is that the word for a giant hill of mud? Well, whatever it was, a giant muddy thing loomed before the 7 dragons. Pistachio took the first dive, and opened up a strange hole in the mud. The rest followed suit.

The hole was dark. Well that should be obvious. The MudWings brought her through a strange series of tunnels. Nightshade tried to remember the route, but she only remembered the first twenty lefts, rights, straights, ups, and downs. She thought there might be a loop mixed in somewhere, but she couldn't remember.

The MudWings took one last up, and suddenly they were in a light-filled room. There was a large dark red carpet on the floor, and when Nightshade's eyes followed it, she saw a bronze throne.

It was a beautiful throne, obviously polished every day. There was a maroon cushion sitting on the throne. The MudWings took Nightshade towards it, but when they were about to get close enough to speak to the Queen, they took a sharp left. This brought them to a dank stone tunnel, and Nightshade saw a large spider scuttle over the ceiling. It slowly lowered on a strand of silk, and hopped off onto Nightshade's back. She tried to reach back and hit it off, but Pecan tugged on the rope around her mouth.

They brought her back, maybe 200 talons. "Interesting fact." Little Almond turned to her siblings. "Scavengers think that talons are called feet! Of course, they would never actually measure using a dragon's foot. They probably use their own!"

Walnut replied sarcastically, "Wow, we love your little tidbits, Almond."

"No need to be rude! I was just SHARING!" She started grumbling to herself. Nightshade could barely hear- "*grumble grumble* sibs who needs 'em? *grumble grumble*" Interesting, unrest in the family...

The MudWings stopped in front of a small cell. There was a hole cut into the wall with a blanket in it. There was also a bucket, and a little hole to slide food and water through. Pecan opened the cell and threw Nightshade inside. He unwrapped the rope around her snout, and then locked the door.

Later that night, a greenish-brownish MudWing, not one that I know, walked past the cell. He was dangling a key-ring in his right hand. Nightshade's cell was on the right side, and the MudWing was slowly approaching. Quick as a flash, she snipped one of the ropes on her talons with her teeth, and grabbed the keys. The guard continued to walk, this time whistling.

As soon as the guard was out of sight, Nightshade cut the rest of the ropes and unlocked the door. She turned a warm brown, and ventured out. However, what she didn't know was that her frill had turned red.

Blood red.
