Chapter 31
Aleks

"Then what did she say?" I frown.
"She said I couldn't camel spin! But I can!" Danielle cries.
"What is her name? First and last? Her parents' names?" I demand.
"Aleksander...please chill," Eva chuckles from the passenger seat.
"I will not chill. Some little demon is bullying my baby sister at ice skating practice. And she should answer for those crimes," I shrug simply.
"Will you beat her up?" Danielle asks, far too much hope and excitement in her voice. We'll have to get that checked out in therapy...
"No one is beating a child up," Eva laughs, wiping the tears from her eyes from laughing so hard.
I'm driving my sisters home from skating practice. Danielle is very involved in figure skating, like my brother Felix is into hockey. Unlike Zane and me, they prefer normal childhoods that aren't full of crime. Weird.
Eva tagged along because she claimed she was 'bored beyond measure' and also made me promise to pick her up her favorite banana smoothie. I think she just is missing her friends from LU and Eli.
Eva's been hanging around me a lot the last week. To both of our surprises, we've been enjoying each other's company. Eva has even convinced me to take her clothes shopping. I saw a sweater that reminded me of Imogen and it made me depressed though.
Danielle giggles as Walter attacks her with kisses in the backseat, hopefully cheering her up.
"We'll take care of this little monster," I grumble as I pull into my parents' driveway.
"Are you coming inside?" Eva asks.
"Nah, I have to get back to the city," I sigh as I park the car. I have a job for my dad tonight and I'd like to nap before that.
"NOOOO!" Danielle cries. "STAAAAY!"
"Stay! Just for a little. Come say hi to Mama," Eva urges, giving me her best puppy-dog eyes.
"Fine," I sigh, unable to say no to either of them ever.
The girls are chatting as they climb out of the car. I let Walter out and he runs ahead. He's obsessed with my sisters, wanting to be around them all the time. I think he likes Danielle so much because she's always giving him food off her plate, which I have begged her repeatedly not to do.
I follow the commotion to where my mom is reading in the back garden. Danielle is speaking a mile a minute, telling her all about her new arch-nemesis at skate practice.
"...Aleksander said he would destroy her for me!" Danielle smiles proudly.
Mom's smile flickers, her eye twitching a bit as she looks up at me, "Did he...?"
"He did!" Danielle answers for me.
"I think these little shits should be eliminated," I deadpan.
Eva and Danielle both break down into a fit of giggles as Mom looks horrified.
"...from the competition, of course," I smirk.
