Akshara's POV
"Congrats, Ms. Akshara, you're selected," Mr. Ajay announces, his voice calm . I feel a surge of excitement, but I manage to keep my expression neutral, though a full-blown smile is threatening to take over, but I steady myself.
"You shall join from next week," he continues, his tone professional. He begins to talk about the instructions and rules-standard company policies, work ethics, and responsibilities. I nod attentively, taking mental notes, but honestly, my mind is buzzing with a mix of emotions.
I did it. I actually did it.
"...and make sure to familiarize yourself with our guidelines before your first day. We expect nothing less than professionalism, punctuality, and dedication here," he says.
"Of course, sir. I'll make sure I'm fully prepared," I respond, my voice steady and calm, masking the excitement bubbling inside me.
"Good. We're looking forward to seeing what you can bring to the table," he says, finally offering a small but approving smile.
I stand up, thanking him once more before walking out of his office. The door shut behind me, and as soon as I'm in the hallway, a grin spreads across my face, my composure finally slipping.
This is just the beginning.
Stepping out of the building , I hear my phone buzz in my bag . I pull it out and glance the screen- Sanju♡. it's non other than my best friend sanjana .
She's been by my side through this entire journey, and now, right when I'm about to answer, the call ends. She's probably biting her nails, dying to know what happened.
Before I can even call her back, the phone rings again, her name flashing across the screen. I answer the call.
"Hello?" I say, trying to keep the excitement out of my voice, but failing miserably.
"Akshu..." she practically shouts. "What happened tell me everything! " she threatened. To tease her I ask "Guess what?..."
"Akshu! ,Don't you dare keep me in suspense!"
I can't help but grin, finally letting the excitement spill over. "I got it, Sanju. I got the job!"
There's a moment of silence on the other end, and then she screams so loudly I have to hold the phone away from my ear. "I KNEW IT! I'm so freaking proud of you! Oh my god, we need to celebrate!, Akshu!"
"I told you I gonna nail it" I say with mischief , starting to walk again, my steps lighter now. "It feels unreal. I walked out of there and it just hit me-this is really happening."
