After I got back home, I found myself frequently checking my phone for any messages, but there was still no response. I couldn't shake the feeling of anticipation, wondering if Adhithya would reach out.

As I sat on the couch, scrolling through my notifications, Riya walked in and raised an eyebrow. "Is there any important message you're expecting?" she asked, a teasing lilt in her voice.

I jumped in my place, startled by her sudden appearance. "What? No! I mean, maybe?" I stammered, my heart racing a bit. "I'm just... checking to see if anyone messaged me."

Riya smirked, crossing her arms. "Sure, that's what they all say. You're totally waiting for someone special, aren't you?"

I rolled my eyes, trying to hide my embarrassment. "It's not like that! I just-" But my words faltered, and I could feel the heat creeping to my cheeks.

"Right," Riya said, laughing softly. "You can't fool me. Just admit it; you've got a crush!"

I sighed, shaking my head but unable to suppress a smile. "Fine, maybe I do, but it's complicated."

"Complicated, huh? Sounds juicy," Riya teased, plopping down next to me. "You know you can tell me anything, right?"

"Yeah, I know," I replied, appreciating her support but still feeling a bit shy about sharing the whole story. "Let's just say I'm a little intrigued."

"Just remember," Riya said, nudging me playfully, "if he's worth it, don't be afraid to make the first move."

I nodded, contemplating her words as I continued to glance at my phone, hoping for a message that might change everything.

After a while, I started to sulk, feeling a bit defeated with the lack of messages. I turned off my phone, deciding it was time for my beauty sleep. As I lay in bed, the darkness enveloping me, I tried to clear my mind, but thoughts of Adhithya lingered.

Just as I was about to drift off, my phone buzzed on the nightstand. At first, I thought it was just another annoying ad, but then it pinged again. Curiosity piqued, I reached over to grab my phone, squinting at the screen in the dim light.

To my surprise, it was a message from him:

Adhithya: Hii! 🙃

Adhithya: Sorry for the late message. I got into some work☹️.

Adhithya: Did you sleep? Did I disturb you?😞

My heart raced, and a smile crept across my face. I quickly typed back, excitement bubbling up inside me

Me : Hey! No worries! I was just about to sleep, but you didn't disturb me at all. How's your day going?😀

As soon as I hit send, I felt a rush of anticipation. Was this the start of something more? I couldn't help but wonder how this conversation would unfold.
