Adhithya's POV
A few minutes later, I made my way to the cafeteria, determined to see for myself what was going on. As I walked in, I scanned the area, and there she was—sitting alone, just like that.
I entered the cafeteria, my eyes scanning the room quickly. There she was, sitting alone, her phone in her hand. No sign of this Rahul guy. Good. My steps were quiet, and I took a moment to just watch her, completely unaware of my presence, looking cute as ever while sipping on her drink.
With a smirk creeping onto my face, I made my way over, sitting right across from her. "So, this is where you’ve been hiding, huh? " I said, leaning in a little closer, my voice low but teasing.
I glanced around the cafeteria and asked, “You said you were with your senior, but you're sitting alone here.”
“He got some urgent work. I thought I’d give an intro to you,” she said.
I chuckled to myself, recalling a few minutes earlier when I had called Alex. “Call Rahul and ask him about the Hyderabad project details. I want that now,” I had said.
“Boss, which Rahul are you talking about?” Alex asked, looking dumbfounded.
“Akshara's team member—her senior,” I replied, a bit annoyed.
“But, boss, that project is starting next month,” Alex said.
“Alex, just do what I said. He is with Akshara,” I insisted.
“Boss, now I understand. You don’t have to worry about him; I will take care of it,” he assured me.
At present, She leaned in, eyes lighting up as she said excitedly, “You know what? He’s also South Indian, like me!”
I raised an eyebrow, smirking at her enthusiasm, but my possessive side flared up. “Oh, is that so?” I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm.
“Wait, hold up,” I said, narrowing my eyes and leaning in closer, pretending to be surprised. "Did you just say South India? Are you a South Indian?" I asked, half teasing, half genuinely curious.
She laughed, a sweet sound that made my heart skip. “Yeah, I am! Why?”
“But you speak Hindi so well! How?” I asked, genuinely curious.
“Umm, well, I learned it. Simple,” she said with a shrug.
“Can I ask from whom you learned Hindi?” I pressed, wanting to know more.
“Well, I know some major South Indian languages, but I don’t know any North Indian languages, so they probably speak Hindi,” she explained. “The first reason I learned was to talk with my friend. I learned from my dad and Riya, my best friend.”
“For which friend did you learn?” I asked, feeling a twinge of jealousy creeping in.
“Sanjana, my other best friend. I learned a few years back because she’s from Mumbai and didn’t know Tamil. So Riya was our translator for us to talk,” she said, her eyes sparkling as she reminisced about her friends.
