Author's POV

As the car rolled to a stop in front of Akshara's apartment, the quiet hum of the engine fading, Adhithya glanced over at her, his eyes darkening with a mix of triumph and affection. His lips curled into a wicked grin, barely containing the possessiveness that surged through him as he took in the sight of her peacefully asleep.

"Oh my kitten... finally, I got you," he whispered to himself, voice low and filled with satisfaction.

She stirred lightly in her sleep, a soft frown forming on her delicate features as a few loose strands of hair tickled her face. Adhithya reached over, his fingers gentle as he brushed the hair away, tucking it behind her ear. His touch lingered, soft but intentional, as though savoring the moment of closeness.

Just as he was about to pull his hand back, her eyelids fluttered open, her deep, drowsy eyes meeting his. For a moment, she looked disoriented, her gaze scanning her surroundings before settling on him. Her brow furrowed slightly.

"Adhithya?" Her voice was groggy, barely more than a whisper. "Where are we?"

"We're at your apartment," he replied smoothly, his grin still playing on his lips, though softer now. "You fell asleep on the way."

She blinked, sitting up straighter and brushing a hand through her tousled hair. "I... I didn't mean to."

He chuckled softly. "It's fine. You needed the rest." His eyes never left her, filled with that same intense mixture of emotions he struggled to hide.

Akshara hurried to undo her seatbelt, her fingers fumbling in her haste. The tension in the air was palpable, but it wasn't discomfort-it was the overwhelming presence of Adhithya, his attention so focused on her that it made her pulse quicken. Before she could unbuckle it, his hand gently covered hers, stopping her.

"You don't have to rush off," he said softly, his voice calm, soothing yet firm. "You'll get hurt."

His fingers deftly unclasped the seatbelt for her, his touch lingering just a moment longer than necessary. The small gesture sent a flutter of warmth through her, surprising her with how protective and gentle he was.

"You've had a long, tiring day," he continued, his eyes locking onto hers with genuine concern. "You should take some rest."

Akshara swallowed, her heart racing from the closeness between them. His concern felt real, and the way he held her attention with his steady gaze made her nervous in a way she hadn't expected-like there was something unspoken between them, something she wasn't quite ready to confront.

"I... I just need to get inside," she stammered, her voice softer than she intended, betraying the nerves fluttering inside her. She tried to pull her hand away, but not too abruptly, feeling the heat from where he had touched her.

Adhithya's smile remained gentle, his expression warm and understanding, though his eyes held a depth she couldn't fully grasp. "I get it," he said, his tone soft yet firm. "But don't push yourself too hard. You deserve a moment to breathe, to rest."
