Author's POV

Akshara was working at her desk, fully focused on her system. Every now and then, she felt the strange sensation that someone was watching her, but she brushed it off, shaking her head and continuing with her tasks.

Yet, the nagging sense of being watched wouldn't leave her alone. Finally, she paused, glancing around the room cautiously.

But there was nothing unusual -everyone else was engrossed in their own assigned tasks. She sighed, shaking off the feeling, and turned her attention back to the screen, determined to refocus on her work.

In the evening, all her team members bid her farewell. After she completes her work and glances around, she finds no one else on the floor. She sighs, packs her belongings, and just then, her mobile buzzes with a message from Aditya: I'm in the parking lot. A smile cracks across her face as she reads the message. She gets into the elevator and heads to the parking lot.

She steps into the quiet hallway, her footsteps echoing as she walks toward the elevator. Suddenly, she feels a presence behind her, as if someone is following. She stops, her heartbeat quickening and turns around but there's no one there. She sighs in relief, shaking off the feeling and turning back toward the elevator.

But just as she turns, she comes face to face with Sameer, standing too close, a strange unsettling smile spreading across his face. His eyes don't quite match his smile, sending a chill down her spine.

Sameer's unsettling smile deepens as he leans in slightly, his voice a low murmur. "Hey, hi akshara" he says, his gaze fixed on her in a way that makes her uneasy. She forces a polite smile, taking a step back to create some distance.

"Oh, hi, Sameer" she replies, trying to keep her tone casual, though her heart races. She glances toward the elevator, hoping it arrives soon.

"Working late?" he asks, his smile never faltering, eyes almost unblinking. She nods, gripping her bag a bit tighter, willing the elevator doors to open.

Finally, with a soft chime, the doors slide open, and she steps inside quickly, pressing the button for the parking level. Just as the doors begin to close, she sees him watching her, until she's out of sight. She lets out a breath she didn't realize she was holding, relieved to finally be alone.

Just as the elevator doors are about to close, Sameer steps forward, holding them open. His smile remains, but his gaze is more intense, something unreadable in his eyes. Without a word, he steps in beside her, and the doors close as the elevator begins its quiet descent to the parking lot.

An uneasy silence fills the small space, and Akshara can feel the tension thickening. She keeps her gaze fixed ahead counting the floors in her mind, waiting for the ride to end.

Finally, the elevator chimes, and the doors slide open to the dimly lit parking lot. She steps out quickly, eager to leave the uncomfortable silence behind and make her way to Aditya's car. But before she can get far, she hears Sameer's voice behind her.
