"We have a problem."
Kisame lifted his stitched arm, his knowing gaze dripping with sarcasm as Pein glared back at him.
"I'm well aware we've been through it. Namikaze is no easy man, he has issues," he and Konan made eye contact.
"We should be safe here, he has no idea this is our backup," Y/N informed, her entire body wrapped in various wounds.
She needed surgeries and so did Tobi. He stood right beside her, watching the interactions unfold before him. His head was wrapped in bandages while bearing the orange mask.
"We wouldn't even be in this mess if it wasn't for you," Kakuzu spat. "We should hand you off to him, dead or alive, who cares as long as we get paid."
"He'd want her alive," Pein said, catching an offended gaze from Y/N. "But that isn't the point here. We look out for each other and we do not sell our friends out. If the same thing were to occur with any one of us we would provide the same amount of protection to keep each other safe."
"This is all very uncomfortable for me as it is to all of you, I've caused everyone enough harm by simply existing," Y/N sat down next to Itachi.
Hidan sighed, "No. This was eye-opening for many of us. If we can't beat one kage, what's the point of achieving our goal if we can't even envision conquering them all? We are meant to be wiser and stronger. We're meant to be the very best. We are the Akatsuki, and we have a reputation to uphold." The group watched with surprise as he did not cuss once.
"Minato is different from the rest," Itachi stated.
"Yes we stand a chance against the others, they're easy but Minato is on a whole other level," replied Deidara. "It'll be hard obtaining the tailed beasts."
"I left him severely injured despite my loss. He should be easier to deal with," Konan said. "Pein you should be able to handle him just fine. He was trained under master Jiraiya."
"So we understand some of his techniques," Pein said to the group. "He has the flying raijin which makes him impossibly fast and the rasengan."
"He's possessed by a shinigami, he was in a dark realm when he was in a coma... Who knows what else he's brought with him," Y/N informed, a concerned look on her face.
"We're to work harder than ever against anyone that threatens the goal of this organization. We eliminate anyone who gets in our way. I will be pairing each of you up with someone you can do missions and spar with. Konan is my second hand so she's not included."
