After 1 year

.After Micah proposed to Alia, they decided to postpone their wedding for a while because Alia had just given birth. They both agreed that they wanted their child, Amiel, to be a bit older when they got married. This way, Amiel could be more involved in their special day. They also felt that delaying the wedding would give them more time to prepare for it, ensuring everything would be perfect. So, they settled on waiting a year before tying the knot to give themselves ample time to plan and enjoy the process.
Micah POV
I had just woken up, and my wife and child were no longer beside me. So, I immediately got up, assuming they were probably in the living room. Also, the house I had built for us was finally finished, so Alia and I had already moved in together. However, she still kept her condo, and we sometimes go there to spend some time and relax.
As soon as I went downstairs, I saw them in the living room. Alia was changing Amiel's diaper. By the way, we named our child Amiel Jarren because it perfectly blends both our names. "Good morning, baby," I said to Alia, kissing her on the lips. "Good morning, little buddy," I added as I picked up Amiel since she had just finished changing his diaper.
"Good morning, foxy," Alia replied as she kissed me back while I held Amiel in my arms. "Did you sleep well?" I asked her. "Yup, I guess?" she answered with a smile. Recently, Alia decided to return to work at her cake shop since she missed baking and managing it. I also hired some household help so she wouldn't have to do as many chores at home. I didn't want her to feel too tired from juggling everything. This way, she could focus more on her passion and spend quality time with Amiel without getting overwhelmed.
Being back at her cake shop gave her a sense of fulfillment, and it was nice to see her happy doing what she loved. We were both slowly adjusting to our new routines as parents and partners, but everything felt like it was falling into place. The house was becoming a home, and every day with Alia and Amiel brought a new layer of joy to our lives.
Even Amiel's babysitter, Ate Loyda, was with us. She used to be the house helper for my mom and dad. "Let's have breakfast," Alia called out to me. I nodded and handed Amiel over to Ate Loyda since Alia and I were going to eat first.
While we were having breakfast, I said, "Baby, I'll take you to the shop today." She looked at me and replied, "What about Kuya Domeng?" Kuya Domeng is Alia's driver. I hired him to make sure she doesn't have to drive anymore and to ensure that she and Amiel are always safe, especially since she sometimes brings Amiel with her to the shop. "I already talked to Kuya Domeng. I'll be picking you up later too," I added with a smile.
"Okay," she agreed, but then asked, "sasama po ba natin si jarren?"
"No, not today. Because later, we'll be doing our fitting for the wedding attire," I said, surprising her, as she didn't know we were going to the fitting today. She immediately covered her mouth in shock, which made me laugh because of how adorable her reaction was.
"Really, baby?" she asked, still in disbelief. "Yes, and our wedding is next month!" I announced, which shocked her even more. "OMG! We're finally getting married!" she said excitedly. We had both been waiting for this moment, and now it was finally happening. "I'll pick you up from the shop early today so we can get to our fitting on time," I told her, as we needed to arrive a little earlier than usual. "Okay po," she agreed with a smile.
We continued eating our breakfast, and once we were done, we headed upstairs to take a shower and get ready for the day ahead.
"Bye, little buddy," I said with a smile, leaning in to give Amiel a kiss on the cheek. I lingered for a moment, watching him gurgle and wiggle in Ate Loyda's arms, feeling a little tug at my heart for leaving him even for just a few hours.
