Tomorrow morning

Alia POV

I woke up earlier than Micah, so I decided to get a head start on preparing breakfast for us. I knew it was still early, so I didn't want to disturb her sleep.

As I was cooking, the doorbell rang. I immediately went to check the video intercom to see who was at the door, but when I looked, there was no one there. I shrugged it off and went back to the kitchen to continue making breakfast.

Just as I was about to get back to cooking, the doorbell rang again. This time, I was a bit confused, so I checked the video intercom once more. Again, there was no one visible outside. Feeling a bit unsettled but not overly concerned, I decided to ignore it and focus on preparing our meal. I returned to the kitchen, trying to put the strange doorbell rings out of my mind as I continued to cook.

Micah POV

I woke up because the doorbell was ringing repeatedly. Alia was no longer beside me, so I got up and went out of the room. I found her in the kitchen, cooking, so I went over to her.

"Good morning, baby," I said, wrapping my arms around her waist from behind and kissing her neck.

"Good morning, foxy," she replied, turning off the stove since she had finished cooking and facing me.

"Why does the doorbell keep ringing?" I asked, a bit annoyed since it had disturbed my sleep.

"I’m not sure. I checked the video intercom, but there was no one there," she said.

"Let’s eat now," she added, so I helped her prepare our breakfast. Just as we were about to start eating, the doorbell rang again. Unable to tolerate the noise any longer, I decided to check outside to see who had been ringing the doorbell so persistently.

When I opened the door, I saw a man in all black with a mask, holding a knife. He was about to stab me, but I managed to slam the door shut just in time.

"Fuck, that was close," I said, feeling extremely anxious.

"Baby, what happened?" Alia asked, clearly worried.

"It’s nothing, baby," I said, not wanting to alarm her further. I didn’t want to see her upset or crying.

"Are you okay? You look really pale," she said, approaching me and placing her hand on my forehead. "You don’t have a fever, do you? Please, tell me what happened," she urged.

Unable to keep it from her any longer, I finally told her the truth. "U-uhm, someone tried to stab me," I admitted.

"What?" she exclaimed, clearly shocked and frightened by my revelation.

She came over and hugged me tightly. "Are you okay? Does anything hurt?" she asked, with tears streaming down her face.

"I'm fine, baby. Please stop crying; I don’t want to see you upset," I said, gently wiping away her tears.

"We need to report this to Ninong so they can catch the person responsible for all this," I said. Alia stopped crying, and we decided to continue with our breakfast since we still needed to attend the wake for Lieutenant Mark.

After breakfast, we took a shower. I chose not to go to the office that day, as I wanted to spend it supporting the wake for Lieutenant Mark. Even though I hadn’t known him long, I appreciated how he had supported Alia.

I also informed my secretary that I wouldn’t be coming to work and that I would be handling matters related to the wake for Lieutenant Mark. I let her know that Secretary Elle would take care of the necessary paperwork for the wake.
