Street rat

Father was buried today and everyone's mourning. Nozel nii-sama locked himself in his room, Solid is going on a tantrum, Noelle has been crying in pain, and me... I don't know... I really don't know what to do.

Right now, I'm walking down the streets with my cloak on. I want to get out of the place just for once and be myself. Or look for someone who's willing to listen to me.

"Oni-san..." A kid called making me look down. "Can I have that apple?" The kid asked.

I turned to look at the apples and then smiled. "Sure," I said then got one and gave it to the kid. 

I watched the kid as he ran away in joy.

"Well, little lady." A man with a husky voice said from behind making me turn to him. "You will have to pay for that."

I back away from him a little. "oh, yes." I said. "But I don't have any money with me, right now. Maybe if I call someone from the House of Silva, I can pay for that."

"Oh. There is no need for that!" He said grabbing my arm towards him and then getting a sword. "You will lose your hand, anyway."

"What?" I panicked. "Wait, what do you think you're doing?!"

"I am just following the rules."

"What rules?"

"Rules that thieves deserve to cut their hands off."

I was in pure shock at what he said. I shut my eyes, ready to meet the cold blade but it didn't. When I opened my eyes, I saw someone talking to the man. 

"I am so sorry about my girlfriend." He said. "I will have her in discipline, I promise."

"You better be."

"Yeah, I mean, she's kinda new here and all, so..." He shrugged then turn to me making my eyes turned wide. "Are you ok?" He caresses his hand on my cheek.

I don't know why but I just let him do that, and I just nod. "Y-Yeah..."

"But you will have to pay for that."

He then looked at my wrist holding the bracelet of my Mother. "Hey, no."

He looks me in the eye. "Do you trust me?" He said as if he was begging and I just nodded. He then turns to the man giving the bracelet to him. "Here you go, Fred." He said.

"Oh, thank you, Zo."

He smiled and I got confused. "No problem." He said. "Oh, and, have some apples, Fred." He toss an apple to the air giving it to him.

When he grab me to get away from him, I smack his arm making him stop a bit. "Hey, that bracelet was Mother's!" I said silently. "I need that back!"

"You mean, this bracelet?" He said showing it to me. 

"How did you...?"

He glances at the man. "Don't worry, I got you." He said with his face close to me. "In return, you owe me an explanation."

I frown. "Why would I even tell you my reasons?"

"This kid knows the way." He said. "Take care of her, yeah?"

The kid nods with a smile. "Yes, sir!" 

"Hey, aren't you that kid who asked me for that apple?"

"Come on, oni-san!" He said grabbing me.

I really don't know what is happening but I'm obeying them. 

Way to go on escaping from your problems, Ne. I thought.
