Chapter 1

The Golden Scenery

"Mother?"

"Yes?"

"How do babies produced?"

Mother suddenly turn to look at me. "Why so curious, love?"

"I don't know..." I said looking at her big belly. "And why did nee-san ran away?"

Mother sigh. "Come her, love." She pat her lap and I sit there. "Outside the forest, there were men who are going to tempt us. They will be the cause of our downfall and the only reason why there are only women inside the forest."

"Oh, so, you were protecting us?"

"Yes, love." She smiled.

"But why do some us can come in and out?"

"Some of us wanted to produce more of us, and when that happens, we leave the man."

"Why?"

"Because they are useless and nothing without us."

I tilted my head. "What do you mean, mother?"

She sigh in patience. "Men outside were only using us for their own fun and we are using them to produce more of us."

"Why would we use each other? Won't we just be united instead of being divided?"

She kiss my head. "It's getting late, love. You should get some sleep." She tuck me in. "Good night." She then turn off the light and was about to leave.

"Mother." I called and she hum as she turn to me. "Is there any chance that our kind and their kind will be united?"

She thought about it for a while. "I don't know, but I certainly hope so." She said. "Now, sleep tight, love." She then closed the door.

I only smiled when she was gone. How I wish I could go to that world, even just a glimpse of it.

"I wonder who would the man is waiting for me outside..." I said sleepily.

SIX YEARS LATER

Mother called me in her study and she looked worried than happy for me. 

"Mother, I have received my grimoire!"

She smiled with a nod. "Yes, I can see that, love." She said then walks towards me making me feel another feeling jealousy when I saw that girl again. "And I assumed that you are ready."

I turn to look up at her with a surprised expression. "Ready?" I repeat. "R-Ready for what?"

Please, say that I am ready to go to the outside world. Please say it. I thought 

"You are ready to know what your destiny is."

It felt like a stab in my mind upon hearing that. "Uh, yeah..." I look away, embarrassed.

"Why?" She asked. "What were you expecting?"

I shook my head. "Nothing."

"Good, now let's go." She said then led me to a secret room with that kid. As we walk to a dark corridor, I noticed that the firesticks were lit up and when she stopped, I knew I'm about to find out something about my future. "Stay here, ok?" She instructed to the six-year-old girl.

"Nee-san...?"

I only look at her then to Mother. "Behave yourself." I told her.

After putting some weird things in the pot, it finally started smoking like crazy making the little girl clung onto me.
