CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE

TYLER'S POINT OF VIEW

My best friend was lying unconscious in my arms and she was losing a lot of blood. When Derrick hit her head again, it must have done some more damage. She passed out, but before Derrick could kill her, a lady called Lillian, walked in and stopped him. To say the least, I was relieved that she had walked in.

She came to examine the unconscious Angelique and then she introduced herself to me. She was Adam's younger sister and she also had a vendetta against Angelique. She said that, because of Adam, she could afford to live a luxurious life. That, when the police questioned her, she had to lie and say she didn't know that Adam was gang leader. She explained to me that after Adam died, most of his assets were frozen and she had only the money she had saved in the bank and an offshore account dedicated to her.

She was pretty angry about Adam's death, so she devised a plan to get to Angelique without being the one who got to Angelique first. In her plan, Derrick fit well because, she thought it would mess with Angelique's head and scare her. She used Derrick's anger towards Angelique as fuel to convince him to help her with the plan.

I was also part of the plan from the start. Apparently they knew that Angelique was strong-willed, so it would take a strong bait to get her, which was me. They knew how much she loved me and would do anything to protect me, so when they kidnapped me, they knew that she would turn herself in. That's sweet and all, but it made me angry that she would give up her life for me. I had to ask her what she was thinking, but right this moment, I was trying to stop the bleeding.

I tore off some of my clothes and covered her open wound. I asked Lillian to turn down the room temperature so that Angelique's body temperature can be able to be conducive to the state that she was in. I also asked her for ice cubes, Vaseline, white vinegar and a bandage. I was in pain as well, but right now, Angelique needed the medical care. I had to convince Lillian to let us go or else, I was going to lose my best friend, and forever this time.

I rubbed the ice cubes on her head gash, and then I applied some Vaseline on it. After that, I dabbed some white vinegar on it then, waited for the bleeding to subside. After I saw a significant change, I asked for a disinfectant and Lillian brought a bottle of Dettol. I dabbed it on the wound, then dressed the wound with the bandage.

"Where did you learn to do that?" asked Lillian.

"I read a lot. So, I pick up some things as I read", I said truthfully. Yes, I was a book worm, and not only with novels, but also e-books and articles about anything and everything. I probably had the widest range in general knowledge than the average person. It was times like these when I appreciated my love for reading.

"You did a very good job at dressing that wound. You should become a nurse", she continued.

"And you should let Angelique and I go, Lillian", I pleaded.

"You know I can't do that. Angelique must pay for what she did", she said.

"Lillian, you do realize that the death of Adam wasn't Angelique's fault, right?" I asked.

"Of course it was. If she hadn't led Adam and his friends to drive out at night, they would have still been alive", she said.

"I don't understand, Lillian. So to you, it was normal that Adam had a girl held hostage and abused her?" I asked.

"It happened before. Unfortunately, that girl wasn't found. She bore much resemblance to Angelique before her make over. Ryce had a fit of anger and beat her to death", she said. My blood went cold. This was sick. "When Adam got home, they decided to bury her in the backyard", she added. "That was almost five years ago". She continued. What?
