Ash, Serena, and Calem made it to the battlefield in Lumiose City, and things did get pretty crowded due to 2 "royalties" being there. "Oh boy, I should've expected this happen in a public battlefield..." thought both Ash and Calem. "Alright, Ash. 1v1." said Calem. "Got it. Ready, Serena?" said Ash. "Yup!" she said, later clearing her throat. "Alright, this'll be a 1v1 battle with both trainers using only one Pokémon. Are the contestants ready?" "We are." said both Ash and Calem.
"So, Calem. Want me to go easy on you?" Ash said. Calem was shocked. No one had gone easy on him before. "Nah, I can handle it." said Calem. "Ok. Greninja, come out!" said Ash. "A Greninja? Ash knows I have a Chesnaught, which wins over Greninja with both Grass>Water and Fighting>Dark. He must have a plan." Calem thought. "Chesnaught, go!"
Alright, Greninja. Use Double Team! Greninja split into many copies of itself.
Chesnaught, use Pin Missile, and fire a lot of them! Chesnaught fired the Pin Missiles (imagine it did it like Guzma's Golisopod in the anime).
Greninja, dodge it and use Aerial Ace! Multiple copies had been hit, but not enough to reveal the real Greninja.
"That'll be a 4x effective Aerial Ace! I gotta find a way to dodge it..." thought Calem. "I got it!" Chesnaught, use Spiky Shield! Chesnaught defended itself with the spikes, blocking the Aerial Ace and dealing tiny damage to Greninja.
"So, he's got that up his sleeve..." said Ash. Greninja, use Cut and break through the Spiky Shield! Greninja ran up to Chesnaught, cleaving the front of the Spiky Shield, dissipating the whole thing.
"Chesnaught, use Hammer Arm! "Go under it, Greninja!" Chesnaught hit the ground, lowering its Speed, therefore making an attack from Greninja unavoidable.
"Now use Aerial Ace! said Ash.
"Chesnaught, use-" Chesnaught got hit by the Aerial Ace, dealing massive damage and leaving Chesnaught half fainted. "I must say, Ash. You really are a good battler. You've got some strategies I've never seen before. Maybe if you rejoin the Kalos League, I'll be waiting for you with my best team!" said Calem.
"Sounds good! But I do wanna beat the Kalos League last." said Ash. "Why?" said Calem.
"I don't have my best team with me right now, so I was planning to return to Kanto, get my best team, maybe re-visit all the regions, and then come back to finally have another chance against Alain! said Ash. Serena was shocked that Ash was already going back to Kanto soon, but would talk to him later about that.
"Alain, huh? I've heard a lot about him. He beat you in the last round of the Kalos League, right? asked Calem. "I don't like to talk about it, but yeah." replied Ash. "He must've been really strong to take someone like you down." said Calem.
"Yeah, but I'm the World Monarch now! We'll see if Alain can beat me at my prime, with my multi-region team!" said Ash. "Looking forward to see it-" Calem was interrupted by Serena.
"Could you guys hurry up and finish this already? You said you'd be quick!" yelled Serena.
"Oh, sorry, Sis." said Calem. Chesnaught, use Wood Hammer!
"Dodge it, and Use Aerial Ace again! said Ash. Greninja dodged the super-effective Wood Hammer, or so it thought.
"Nice try, Ash. Pick up the Wood Hammer and swing it!" said Calem. Chesnaught swung the Wood Hammer around, hitting Greninja in the process.
"You ok, buddy?" said Ash. Greninja nodded, while also signaling Ash something. "Alright, Greninja." Both of them raised their hands up and made a fist, while letting out a battle cry, as a huge water veil erupted and consumed Greninja. The water then went to Greninja's back, forming a huge Water Shuriken.
