——————————CHARLIE————————

After what felt like hours in ELA, it was time for the debate. As I was walking into class and taking my seat, I look over to the person I was going against. Ivy looked nervous but I couldn't tell why. Probably because she was worried I will beat her again. We made eye contact and it looked like Ivy almost jumped out of her seat.
She looked away and stared down at her desk.

"Class!" Mrs. Henry said as the tardy bell rang. "Please take out your debate papers and you will be presenting them with the partners you have been assigned." I wanted to look at Ivy, but I could tell it would've been awkward. "The class will decide who had the best arguments." Mrs. Henry smirked. I heard my classmates whisper and then a couple in the back burst out in laughter.

I slowly turned my head to face Ivy and I guess she had the same idea because she was looking at me, dead in the eye. I was startled but I kept eye contact. She looked at the teacher and then got up from her seat. She walked up to my desk, trying to look intimidating. I could tell she was still nervous.  "Hello, Charlie." Ivy crossed her arms and tilted her head. "Hey, Ivy." I tried to smile but the confusion on her face forced me to stop. "Are you ready?" Ivy smirked. I couldn't take her seriously, especially everything that we have been through.

She has good debates, but I have great ones. Why can't she understand that this isn't a war, just a class that we get graded for? "I guess." I wanted to get this over with. Mrs. Henry said that we will start our debates now and Ivy's smile faded away. Her hand tightly crushed her paper and it took her a while to realize. She gave me a look. Maybe that's because I had a confused expression on my face.

"Are you alright?" I hesitantly asked. "I'm fine." She said in an intense and stern tone. Mrs. Henry stared at us as Kevin and Morales were presenting and I gave an awkward smile. The boys finished their presentation and we all voted for who had the best one.

Morales won by a long shot. Kevin and Morales giggled their way to their seats, not a care in the world. If only Ivy could act like that. I was so deep into thought that I didn't even notice our names being called. Ivy tapped my shoulder and I swiftly grabbed my paper and walked over to the front of the class. Ivy swallowed and I firmly held my paper.

As Ivy started to state her side of the topic that was given, I started to have a weird reaction to what she was saying. She kept on going on and on, even when I stated my part she sounded more confident and I think everyone could tell something was off. No. I always have the best tone and the most confidence. I mean, I didn't really care. But then as we went on, it started to feel targeted towards me. She kept going. I looked at her and I suddenly put my paper down. She looked bewildered but she kept talking. Something in me made me lash out.
