Ch.4 - Super-Cousins

"So... Lana says you two were on a date, right?" Clark Kent walked up behind Kara who, still in her homemade outfit with her cape blowing in the wind, was standing while watching the sun set.

"Me? On a date with Y/N? My Bestie in the whole world?! I..." Kara began as she blushed, unsure of what to say. "I... It wasn't a date!" Kara pouted with a giggle afterwards.

"Hmm, not too sure about that. Lana says you've been eying him a lot recently" Clark continued teasing his cousin, causing the girl to blush more before noticing another person coming over.

That being her Bestie Y/N L/N.

"Kal! Stahp! Y/N's coming!" Kara hid her blush away by hiding it with her homemade cape.

"Hey Super-Cousins, what's going on here?" Y/N had approached finally, noticing Kara hiding her face away from him as the Man of Steel chuckled. "Why's Kara hiding her face with her homemade cape?" Y/N asked curiously.

"Lana says you two went on a date, was that true?" Kal asked Kara's best friend about it, making the boy giggle at the confusion.

"Haha, no no. Lana's just teasing us. We went out today since today marks the day me and Kara met three years ago. Thought we'd celebrate by going down to grab lunch and milkshakes" he explained his side of the story. "Now that makes sense to why Kara's her face" he smiled at the thought of it being a date, it sounded cute too.

"Oh right" Superman chuckled at the situation.

"I told you!" Kara finally unhid her face.

"Well, I better start listening a lot from now on then, knowing Lana was just teasing you both" the man laughed before smiling at his cousin. "I'm proud of you Kara"

Kara looked surprised at this; Y/N almost spat out the drink he brought with him upon hearing what Clark said.

"Y-You're proud of me?" Kara asked with hope in her eyes, like a proud child and their parent.

"I am... Though you've still got some practice to do with your powers, today you did good. And I'm proud of you for it. Shows your beginning to use your powers effectively than before which is a good start" he explained further before Kara began celebrating, hugging Y/N and floating up a little.

Y/N laughed at the sudden hug brought upon him by Kara, giggling happily away. Seemed she was happy to hear those words from her cousin.

"But..." he then said, which killed the mood for Kara as she rolled her eyes.

"Here comes the part where you say I'm not fully ready yet" Kara floated back down, letting go of Y/N as he looked at Kara's cousin.

"No actually... I was gonna suggest you patrol Smallville soon. But it's best you get more used to your powers a bit more. Especially your heat vision, Lana told me you accidentally put two holes in your ceiling, one wrong move and you'll-"

"Kill someone accidentally... I know" the girl groaned. "Why are you telling me this again anyway?" Kara then asked with a pout.

Clark then smiled before approaching Kara and placing a hand on her shoulder. "Because... You're making an improvement, you're now one step closer to becoming a superhero. Like me" he told her, which raised a glint in her eye of joy. "If there was one day where I wouldn't be around, someone else would have to take that mantle of Earth's beacon of hope, and there isn't anyone better, than you Kara. Lana has told me everything you've said about becoming a hero, and though she is sceptical about it, she understands why you want to" he talked more, shedding some light on Kara's hopes of becoming a superhero by using her powers for good.
