Laying on the bed in a sweatsuit of her merch, Courtney held a soft smile as she watched the video of Valero with him on his belly, raising his head and chest with a grin on his tiny mouth. She was a week into her solo tour and five shows in and one of the most important people in her life she wanted with her was on a video instead. The FaceTime video call sound filled her room space on the tour bus, awaiting for the person to answer."Wassup baby?" Her father asked, showing half of his face.
"Hey Cokey!" The gentle voice hollered from a distance on his end.
"Hey, Daddy and Stasi. Where my baby?" she asked.
"Just went down for a nap. His ASL instructor comin' over here in like a hour. You watch that video I sent you the other day?" he asked, putting his face fully into the camera after toying with a object on the side.
"With Uncle Verz and Bam?" Her father nodded in return and Courtney laugh lightly remembering the video. "Yeah. It was so cute. Verz loving that sign language. I'm glad y'all are taking the step to learn. I know it's a lot."
"It's not a lot it's just something we gotta adjust too. He not in this alone. Cali know allat sign language so she gon' be teaches us, too."
"How's his nanny?"
"She straight. Nice lady Crystal. We just do handoffs and she go her way, I go mine. He getting treated well if that's what you worried about."
"Kinda."
"Well don't 'cause he good." Asante assured, releasing a exhale as he sat back into the couch. "How your goin?"
"Soo busy," she sighed, "I shot two videos in two days; flying back and forth back home then I had to fly back those nights to perform. So it's been stressful. I was mad I didn't get a chance to see Bam but he was with his father, so."
"Gotta get that work done. Which videos you do?"
"ICU and Simple. ICU gonna drop tonight. The director of Simple sent me a preview of it. I'm bouta send it to you."
The daughter shot her father the fifteen second video.
"You get it?"
Asante assured he did, his screen pausing to watch the short clip. "I fuck wit' that," he praised as his face returned on the screen, "The looks classy. Was he there with you?"
"No. He was coming from Atlanta and I had to hurry and shoot my scenes just to get back to doing shoots for ICU. I was stressed. I gotta do two more videos next week and one a live performance."
"Which ones?"
"Double Back and Crazy For Me. CFM the live one for my YouTube. I'm stressed about that one because Carter won't be there. She has to start rehearsal for DWTS. Working on four more songs for this deluxe. It's honestly a lot, Daddy, likeee."
