courtney
The first time in six weeks, she was able to soak in a bath and actually get rest.
The throb in her temples stopped, and the bags under her eyes vanished in just getting a full nights rest, only having to get up to make a bottle and go back to sleep. Troy's presence was a great help, being he was a night owl and happy to help her. Typically Courtney wouldn't have been so trusting with someone else with her child, even the same with her own family, but she was so tired and not feeling any kind of screwed vibes when it came to Troy, her heavy eyelids closed and she was comfortable with it.
Courtney was refreshed the next morning. Standing at the threshold in a oversized shirt and biker shorts, Court looked in on Valero in the baby crib and he slept calm and peaceful for the first time. Then her gaze averted to the sofa Troy slept on, fully clothed and under a cover she gave him. The ringing of her phone in her hand had her raise it up to the gated community's security number flashing on her screen—norm for when there's a unapproved visitor without the code to enter.
"Hey, George. Good morning." she answered, stepping out into the hall to prevent from waking Troy and Valero.
"Hey, good morning, Miss Davis. There's someone here that says his car his parked at your address."
Courtney frowned in confusion and then heard, "Lemme see the phone," The baritone voice booms in the background before hearing it more clearly. "How you doin, Miss Davis? This—"
"Toby?" Courtney recognized the deepness of the voice. "Hey, its Courtney. What's going on?"
"What up wit it? Ion' mean to wake you up or nothin' but is a red El Camino parked at yo' crib?"
A vivid memory comes to her when Troy arrived and he got out the exact car. "Yeah. Tell George to let you through."
After letting the security know, they hung up and Courtney went to wake up Troy immediately.
"Your Dad is here," she told him once Troy start to wake up; hearing that woke him up fully. She watched him closely as he start to raise up. "Did you steal your Dad's car?" she asked.
"I didn't steal it, Co. I borrowed it."
"Well that's not—" She stopped at the call of her name by Carter on the ground floor. She checked on Valero before she left out and Troy folding the blanket. The person waiting and in a conversation wit Carter wasn't Toby but another chocolate handsomeness. "Hey, Gabe."
The low, dark brown irises pulled away from taking in Carter's full figure and over to the tall stallion. "What up. Ion' mean to interrupt y'all mornin'. I'm kinda glad I did though. Why you ain't tell me yo' sister this fine?"
Courtney chuckled at the twenty-year-old. "Well, we never really spoke on my personal life. You good, though."
Gabe started to continue flirting on Carter, but his brother descending the steps took him off task. "Now after it all, why take his whip? You literally thirty minutes away from Bel—"
"Shut up, G." Troy cut him off, touching the low of Courtney's back to get her attention. She looked at him, her gaze locking with his. "Hit you when I get home?" she nodded, and he hugged her tight and close. "Good to meet you, Carter."
"Mhm; you, too." Carter said as Troy and Gabe head out.
"Why the fuck you take my c..." The father's voice cut off by Carter pushing the door shut and shaking her head.
