"They still trippin'."The bedroom door closed after his statement, muffling the mixture of male and feminine shouts on the bottom floor. Sitting on the floor with his back against the bed and Gabe laying on it, Troy gaze went over to his twin as he walked over and joined him on the floor in the same sitting position. Tyson exhaled sharply while Gabe asked, "Man, they still goin' at?" he looked at his older brother.
"You don't hear 'em?" Tyson gestured at the door. The brothers sat in silence to listen close to the conversation.
The younger sister, their aunt Carina, voiced her opinion on burying her sister in New Orleans where they were born, and their uncle Tavon quickly rebuttals. They heard their aunt Pearl speak in a different language, which sent Gabe's expression into a confused frenzy.
"Kill that mumbo jumbo, cause don't nobody understand it but y'all."
"Right," Gabe said after the silence, agreeing with his uncle De's comment. "What she speaking anyway?"
"Creole."
"I ain't even know they spoke another language." Gabe realized with furrowed his eyebrows. "What the hell I miss?"
"Quit smokin' allat weed." Tyson said, "But nah, we used to hear 'em when we was kids. I just ain't heard it in years."
"But they Black?" His low, red eyes bounced side to side trying to figure it out , especially with how high he was. "How they even know Creole?"
Tyson shrugged, but Troy, on the other hand, knew why after the history lesson their grandmother gave him before her passing. "Cause they father," Troy spoke finally since Tyson's entrance.
"How you know?" Gabe wondered, looking over to Troy along with Tyson.
Without a verbal response, Troy pulled out his phone and went to the Safari to the first thing that popped up and showed his brothers.
It was a old newspaper report. The front image was in black and white but it was obvious the dapper dressed male held a bright skin and silky hair. On his lap was the two-year-old version of their aunt with a telephone in her hand, and her big eyes looking at the camera. The report talked about the two being at his desk in the House of Representatives at Louisiana.
"Monty Breaux? Who is that?"
"That's aunt Sasha, so that gotta be they Pops." Tyson said, answering Gabe; although he wasn't sure himself.
"It is." Troy confirmed, accepting his cellphone back and locking it. "Breaux all they real last name. Since she told me, I been lookin' into 'em. Y'know bro was worth millions.." he revealed, and Gabe and Tyson were visibly shocked.
