Title: Heir Black-Eye

The grand Wizengamot chamber was an imposing space, where the magical world's greatest minds debated law and policy. It was also, on occasion, an unexpected daycare for the children of its members. Prestigious wizarding families like the Malfoys, Greengrasses, and, of course, the Blacks, often brought their offspring when meetings ran long.

On one such day, Walburga Black had brought her youngest son, Regulus, to the chamber. Barely three years old, Regulus was small, pale, and unusually well-behaved for his age. Walburga had insisted on it. The Blacks valued decorum and image above all else, and young Regulus was not going to embarrass the family, especially not in front of the Minister of Magic, no less.

The current Minister, Millicent Bagnold, a stern yet charismatic woman, was present for the meeting. Bagnold was known for her strong opinions and even stronger presence, often speaking with a force that captivated the room. As usual, she was seated at the head of the chamber, surrounded by the other Wizengamot members who listened intently to her address.

Regulus, however, wasn't captivated by politics or the dry legal discussions unfolding around him. His tiny hands gripped the edge of his mother’s robe, but his curious eyes wandered around the room, landing on a shiny object far in the distance—Bagnold's intricate brooch, sparkling under the chamber’s lighting. It was mesmerizing.

Before Walburga could stop him, Regulus, his toddler curiosity piqued, toddled toward the Minister, his focus entirely on the gleaming brooch. He moved surprisingly quickly for someone so small, and within seconds, he was standing directly in front of Bagnold, his tiny hand reaching out for the shiny object.

Bagnold paused mid-sentence, looking down at the small child with a mixture of amusement and confusion. “And who might this be?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.

Walburga’s sharp voice cut through the room. “Regulus! Come back here this instant!”

But it was too late. Startled by the sudden booming voice of his mother, Regulus panicked. Without thinking, his small fist shot out in a flurry of instinctive defense, and it collided with Bagnold’s chin with surprising force for a toddler.

A collective gasp filled the chamber.

Millicent Bagnold, the most powerful witch in Britain, sat there, blinking in shock as her hand went to her face. For a brief moment, the room was silent—until Bagnold, breaking the tension, burst into laughter. It was a rare sight, and her booming laughter echoed throughout the hall.

“Well, that was unexpected!” she chuckled, rubbing her chin. “I suppose young Black here doesn’t care much for politics.”

The room erupted into nervous laughter, and Walburga, mortified, rushed over and grabbed Regulus, pulling him away from the Minister. Her cheeks burned with shame, though she tried to keep her composure. “I… I apologize, Minister. He’s… young.”

“Think nothing of it, Mrs. Black. A strong punch from a strong family, it seems!” Bagnold’s eyes twinkled as she waved it off, though the moment was far from forgotten.

Later that day, the incident spread like wildfire among the Wizengamot’s inner circle. Wizards and witches snickered in the hallways, retelling the story of how the Black heir had punched the Minister of Magic square in the face. What had started as an innocent mistake quickly turned into a nickname that would follow Regulus for the rest of his life: Heir Black-Eye.

Even as he grew older, and as his reputation as a proud Black and later a Death Eater solidified, the nickname persisted in whispers. Some took it as a joke, while others saw it as a sign of his strength and defiance, even as a child. Every now and then, someone would smirk when they saw him, recalling the infamous punch that left the Minister of Magic rubbing her chin.

Though Regulus barely remembered the incident, the name followed him into adulthood, becoming a strange, accidental part of his legacy in the wizarding world.

And no matter how much power or prestige Regulus might gain, the story always lingered, reminding everyone that even the most disciplined of families had their moments of wild, unpredictable magic.
