At a Death Eater Meeting...
The cold, dimly lit room was filled with the usual hushed whispers of the Dark Lord’s loyal followers, their cloaks swirling in the shadows. A silence had fallen over the gathering as Lord Voldemort stood at the front, his red eyes gleaming, awaiting the next lesson.
A random Death Eater, one known only for his eagerness to please, stepped forward. His voice was slightly trembling as he addressed the room.
Random Death Eater: "Avada Kedavra... It's simple. You just say the words, and—"
Before he could finish his sentence, Regulus Black’s voice cut through the tension in the air.
Regulus Black: "Oh, is it? Simple, you say?" His tone was dripping with sarcasm as he slowly raised his wand, his dark eyes never leaving the Death Eater.
The room fell silent. Even Voldemort’s gaze was now fixed on Regulus. The younger Black brother’s reputation for being both ruthless and unpredictable preceded him.
Regulus Black: "Well, let’s see about that." He flicked his wrist, pointing his wand directly at the Death Eater who had just spoken.
"Avada Kedavra!"
A burst of green light erupted from the end of Regulus’ wand, and the unfortunate Death Eater’s body crumpled to the ground, lifeless before it even hit the floor. His robes billowed slightly, the faintest of sounds escaping his mouth before his last breath was stolen away.
The room remained deathly still, the only sound being the faint crackling of the fire in the corner. Regulus lowered his wand, his expression unchanged.
Regulus Black: "Oh my god, it's that simple..."
For a long moment, no one dared to speak. The other Death Eaters stood frozen, unsure of how to react. Finally, a nervous chuckle rippled through the crowd, quickly followed by a few uncomfortable coughs.
Voldemort, ever the strategist, slowly clapped his hands, his thin lips curling into a cruel smile.
Lord Voldemort: "Well done, Regulus. But remember, simplicity is not always your greatest ally. The killing curse is not something to be taken lightly, even if it appears... effortless."
Regulus didn’t flinch, merely bowing his head in acknowledgment. He turned on his heel and returned to his position, leaving the fallen Death Eater’s body as a grim reminder to the others.
The room slowly returned to its eerie quiet, though the message was clear. In this dark world, power wasn’t just about the magic you wielded. It was about the confidence to use it without hesitation.
