Chapter 15: Jealousy and Admiration

As the days passed at Gusu, Wei Ying quickly gained the attention of everyone around him. His talent, his sharp wit, and his calm demeanor masked a deeper power that only a few could sense. Jiang Cheng and Yanli, both attending the lectures, watched with mixed emotions. Jiang Cheng’s bitterness grew with every passing day, while Yanli kept her feelings hidden, though Wei Ying could sense her silent resentment.

Meng Yao, a disciple from the Jin clan who had struggled for recognition, could hardly hide his jealousy. He, too, noticed how the attention shifted toward Wei Ying, and it grated on him.

Yet, amid the growing jealousy, Nie Huaisang continued to admire Wei Ying from afar. His once small crush had blossomed into something stronger, though he kept his feelings hidden beneath layers of fanning and innocent questions.

Lan Wangji, known for his stoicism, also took notice of Wei Ying. Though he disapproved of Wei Ying’s recklessness, there was something about him—an energy that drew Lan Wangji in, even as he fought to maintain his cold exterior.

But none of the attention phased Wei Ying. He carried himself with confidence, knowing that he had a purpose far greater than any of them could understand.
